This is a photo of the ceiling inside Peter & Paul Cathedral, St Petersburg. Unfortunately the photo has lost some clarity during the compression process. The decorations are brilliant, but you can see enough to get the idea.
I am off for a few days.

Beautiful photo. Is this the renaissance period? It boggles my mind to think how they created these works of art. There are so many of them in Rome (where I live) that it almost becomes 'ho-hum'. But their beauty is still astounding.

Good Morning everyone. It's early morning here and I'm having a bit of trouble sleeping. Thank you for the nice things you have said about my photos and your good wishes for the weekend, but you should know that we are driving down to Melbourne today to attend the funeral of my favourite aunt. She was a lovely woman and I do miss her, but she was 91 and had a good innings. RIP MM

Ian/Sydney - I am so sorry to hear about your aunt. I have a few favorite aunts. Since my mom has been so ill, they have been such a support to me. I am very sorry for your loss. I hope you have a safe trip.

Thanks for the continued Eastern European tour Ian. I'm glad that many of the cathedrals remained to be returned to former glory despite wars, opposing beliefs etc. Utterly magnifique!!
