maen all! grits is good, y'all! if you let them set-up they're quite a bit like the polenta i was raised on. i really do miss the fresh gulf shrimp we used to get while living in fla. when we get down in the winter the shrimp are off-season so its mostly mexican or louisianna gulfers.

Not an insult on the level of some of Churchill's but - -

Grits are small broken grains of corn. They were first produced by Native Americans centuries ago. They made both "corn" grits and "hominy" grits. So - not a Southern food, nor a Soul food, but a Native American food, as is popcorn.

So now you know!

Grasshopper - I also thought grits were some type of offal - we Queenslanders know nothin'! Well, about grits anyway.
