11.30 or thereabouts. (I think the clock runs fast.) Ian, we live at Beacon Hill (northern beaches, warm) and we have tree ferns by the yardful. They look lovely but their spores make an awful mess of everything around the house.

Bill/Texas, wives don't always know what their husbands like, but in the song he ends up back with the person he started with. We may know our husbands better than they think.

deltz- I had a Norfolk Island Pine for years in my house up north. I planted it in my yard in Florida and now it is 12 feet tall and growing. I saw some in California that were 100 feet tall and with trunks five feet in diameter. Norfolk Island is in the South Pacific. It is most famous here in the More...

Jim, Norfolk Island is a lovely part of the world. As you say, it has an interesting history.

New at this, loving it. Great pic.

In Tasmania they call these fern trees, man ferns, which gives you an idea of the size. They grow in the cool rain forest areas or places that used to be like that. Absolutely beautiful in places like the Styx and Weld Rivers in Southern Tasmania. I think they're called ponga trees in New Zealand.

I had two lovely baby tree ferns at my place when I first moved in. Poor things died a sad and long drawn out death from dehydration as I stopped watering the garden completely. Now I have holes where the stumps used to be. So sad.
