New day, new year - time to put the very sad Eeyore away. I am not all the way out of my black hole yet, but getting better. Maybe I need to turn Eeyore on his head, so he always has to look up!

Been busy cooking traditional Japanese New Year dishes. Yuck! Ever peel a gobo (Burdock) root? Leaves a brown stain on your fingers! Then the satoimo (I think it's taro root) leaves your skin itchy, I have to wash my hands again to see if I can get rid of all the tiny hairs from the root. Bother!

Only thing I can relate to is Prickly Pear cactus fruit. As I remember the fruit was good once you got it peeled. (of course that was 40 some odd years ago, and I was very hungry. "Survival School")

Good Mean, Everyone!

Looking back on the months gone by,
As a new year starts and an old one ends,
We contemplate what brought us joy,
And we think of our loved ones and our friends.

Recalling all the happy times,
Remembering how they enriched our lives,
We reflect More...

So what are we celebrating? We are not dead yet. That's a good start. We are affluent enough to have a computer and be online. That helps. That we are older and wiser? Maybe. That the real riches in life are love and joy and being connected to our spiritual life? YES.

Same here Amelia, just hubby, youngest daughter and I! A bit of a tradition with us, antisocial types that we are.
It was raining buckets last night, so I can't say I was unhappy about not being at the fireworks or at an outside party.

Amelia, I still have to go shopping! We only shop once a fortnight, so it's a big deal, plenty of mouths to feed.

to everyone - and may 2010 be a year of peace and goodwill throughout the world. Of course, that would probably be a first in the world's history, but we can live in hope.
Nature provided plenty of fireworks last night to see the new year in. We're never sure whether to celebrate at More...

Now we are in the New Year here.
Passing through the 'needle eye', with the change in number from 2009 to 2010, wasn't so bad. I hope all our American members survive their future similar exerience.
New Year Eve dinner was a huge success - maybe it was the best meal I've ever cooked - especially the comice pears as dessert. Yummee!
