Three Dog Night - "JERIMIAH WAS A BULL FROG / JOY TO THE WORLD"

GMO - thanks for the note on Mamacita. I (and am sure many of us) dearly miss her posting.

Heidi, glad you're feeling better. By any chance are you suffering from a sciatica problem? I suffered terribly from that condition for a number of years. Then one day I adjusted my car seat (moved it closer to the dash) so that my leg wasn't extended so far, and VOILA the pain disappeared overnight! Weird! But you might want to give it a try.

Fiona: Graveyard shift? Do you dig graves. I dig some kinds of music but not graves. Funny hobby of yours. Do graveyards move about. In what direction do they shift - N? S? E? W? Sounds eerie to me. Have you ever seen a graveyard moving around or do they do it after dark? Bit unnerving I guess.

Rayray, when I was a kid, THE thing to do was go down to the old graveyard in my town, next to the derelict church. Scared the s*** out of me! Just shows you how much we had to do at nights! But this time of night is so quiet on here that it can only be called the night shift!

I really enjoyed the Aussie slang yesterday. Here's a little Southern lingo, etc., back atcha:

SOUTHERN WOMEN

Southern women appreciate their natural assets:
Clean skin.
A winning smile.
That unforgettable Southern drawl.

PART 2

No true Southerner would ever assume that the car with the flashing turn signal is actually going to make a turn.

A Southerner knows that 'fixin' can be used as a noun, a verb, or an adverb.

Only Southerners make friends while standing in lines, ... and when we're 'in More...

I'm a transplanted southerner. As my calling card says, "I got here as fast as I could!" (Come to think of it, I've lived nearly half my life in the South!)

Debby, I'm sorry for the pause. I had to take an ice cream break! Yum!

If you go to Virginia next month, will you be there for the Fiddler's convention - or is that this month?
10/Jul/08 7:14 AM

Just did my homework and found the Old Fiddlers' Convention starts August 4. Hope you get to go this year. I know you've gone in previous years. That's one of the things I miss about Virginia!

Cold Winter

It was April and the Aboriginals in a remote part of Northern Australia
asked their new elder if the coming winter was going to be cold or mild.

I have just been back reading some of yesterdays posts & thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment. The Aussie slang & southern accents made great reading.
The old saying "You learn something new every day "is true for me.
I had to read some of the southern words a few times before working it out.Great Fun..

Oh that always happens to me. The punch lines never make it to the page! Make up your own punch lines. That migght be fun, just don't use the old one of

"The weatherman replied, 'Our satellites have reported that the Aboriginals in the north are collecting firewood like crazy, and that's always a sure sign.'" Cos that's a bit obvious
