OMG, all this talk about Faulty Towers brings back fond memories and lots of chuckles. I have the book which contains all those memorable lines.
Why did they stop making the series?

I rather like Loreena McKennitt singing 'The Lady Of Shalott'...and that bit in 'Anne of Green Gables,' where she lies in the boat, and recites, as she drifts down river...

Good morning all - it seems that a fondness for 'Fawlty Towers' is universal. Thanks for the laughs and the memories. André - that's my all time favourite too - thrashing the car with a branch. Chuckling as I type.

As long as I keep getting good feedback, I will keep posting more bird photos.
I posted a pic of a Common Moorhen just now. I bought a new camera in mid-January, and it gives some stunning results. I have barely posted since then - too busy taking pics to post them I guess.
More to come!

Joke - A New Yorker was forced to take a day off from work to appear for a minor traffic summons. He grew increasingly restless as he waited hour after endless hour for his case to be heard.

Kevin Costner is "Field of Dreams" - "Build it and they will come" or words to that effect.

I also really liked "Remember the Titans" about American football

I'm reading the 4th Twilight book "Breaking Dawn" at the moment. I was home by myself for a while last night while hubby was out and the boys were at the gym. I actually spooked myself out a bit while reading and had to invite the dog in to keep me company. He was too tired and took More...

Finally I broke the 2 minute barrier. Haven't done that in months. Brains are going! going! gone~
My favorite line from Steel Magnolia -
Clairee - "Ouiser could never stay mad at me. She worships the quicksand I walk on!"

"When Harry Met Sally"

"I'll have what she's having."

I also loved these lines ~
Ouiser - "Don't you expect me to come to your church, one of those tent revivals with all the Bible beaters doing God only knows what. They probably make eat a live chicken!"
Annelle - "Not on your first visit!"
Clairee - "Very good, Annelle, spoken like a true smarta$$."

Keith - you hit on the line I was thinking of - surprise it was used already.

How about: "I'm mad as hell, and I won't take it any more."

shosho, I have met the lady that sort of inspired the character Ouiser in Steel Magnolias. She still goes by the name (though her given name is Louise), but she spells it Weiser. She knows the author of the book, and knew the lady who died of cancer that the story is based upon.

Do I stand alone on this site, as a person who not only finds John Cleese unfunny but that whole genre as the beginning of SHOUTING comics. If you need to shout it ain't funny. I know I am not alone out in the wide world.

I agree about shouting comics, Mo. I guess JC tickles me sometimes because at one stage he and my brother were very similar in looks. And the stuff I loved in FT was the silliness, the absolute lack of logic.

The 'rooster' suggestion from several people is a good one in present company. We don't use the word all that much over here - but yes - OK here. Since the censors sometimes (at least when they are awake), don't allow us to use the real word, I did a 'find & replace' with 'male hen'- more as a dry comment than anything else. That seems to have elicited more interest than the joke itself.
