Same in Sydney - must be typical of the South-Eastern states this year! The weather has been all over the place these last two weeks. Alternating between baking heat and cool and wet. Last Thursday I was wearing a swimsuit all day and was still too hot to move. On Friday I put on long sleeves More...

Hi Jane! Great looking recipe ... but I don't think I can be bothered doing the metric conversion! Maybe another day! I know, I know - it's very easy to do on the WWW these days. I am just too mellow already! Happy holidays all!

Good morning all. Great avatar Jim! Very festive.
We're just in the middle of a storm here, not a scary one but keeping temps down. Our Christmas Day temp is expected to be 30degC - earlier forecast to be 32C. Still may be Air-Con weather - if I've got 10 people for Christmas dinner, I More...

Merry Christmas everyone. I am going to my sons house tomorrow and won't be back until after xmas. If I never get back Happy New Year. ( I think they will try to kill me with kindness. Would it be outrageous to throw a temper tantrum?)

I gave up on hot Christmas dinners some years ago, although I haven't been able to break the hot Christmas pudding habit. This year we had a "Christmas in July" celebration with all the traditional foods, a few decorations and a Kris Kringle exchange of silly gifts ($5 max.) There were 30 of us and we had a ball. Now the grandkids are hoping it will become an annual event.

Howdy all, A long break for me away from the site - just too busy in my neck of the woods.
Hope you are all gee'd up for Christmas. I wonder each year, how we justify the excessive spending and yet every year find Christmas lasting well into February's pay cheques.
If I don't get back on before, MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE! STAY SAFE, AND GIVE YOUR HEART TO LOVE ONLY.

A few years back, I weighed (ahem) more, and lived in Chicagoland. One November it was bitterly cold and I quit shaving, wanting to keep the wind off my face.

In college my beard had been bright red, but to my surprise, sometime since it had gone white!

When the fourth stranger's child asked me if I was Santa, I decided to A) Lose weight and B) Shave come spring.

Elsie, nice to see you again! Hope all you folks in the hot, hot areas of the world manage to have a good Christmas despite the sweltering temperatures.
Judy, love your Christmas in July idea. Sounds like a tradition worth keeping. I've lost track - how many grandkids for you?

Kathy, the Christmas in July concept is quite popular in southern parts of Australia, probably because so many of us are descendants of northern hemispherers (?) who want to celebrate Christmas in a traditional manner, but have learned a bit of commonsense about that in our conditions. It's also a good way to bring a bit of cheer into a bleak time of year. Oh - and I have 11 grandchildren!

May I follow your lead, Ian, & offer the same wishes back to you & so many other good people here in Sudokuland. Hope you & Anne enjoy your time at your daughter's & have safe travels with your friends after that.

Well, I posted the last of my "Best of 2009" photos.

Jim you look so cute in your Santa hat... Sorry...Hello everyone, Judy/B I am like you our family used to alway have the traditional Xmas dinner until the year it was my turn and I almost fainted from the heat with 22 people around the table I put my foot down and told them that we live in Australia not England and from now on it would be a cold dinner at my place my children have followed suit.

Jim's comments reminded me of another old email joke: the four stages of Santa Claus ...

Stage 1: You believe in Santa Claus
Stage 2: You don't believe in Santa Claus
Stage 3: You are Santa Claus
Stage 4: You look like Santa Claus

I was going to post this an hour ago but we had a power outage!
