Eve, Darling harbour is in Sydney. It's a short walk from the city centre and has become one of the major tourist and convention centres of the city over the last 10 or 15 (or possibly more) years since it was given a major facelift.

Why do married men gain weight while bachelors don't?

Bachelors go to the refrigerator, see nothing they want, then go to bed. Married guys go to the bed, see nothing they want, then go to the refrigerator.

I believe this has been posted before, but I feel it is worth repeating.

CLEANING POEM

I asked the Lord to tell me
Why my house is such a mess
He asked if I'd been computering
And I had to answer "yes."

He told me to get off my fanny
And tidy up my More...

I don't think they do that nowadays, but when you traveled through the national forest and the highway did, they had water trucks and sacks to try to keep the fire from crossing the road. The highway was only four narrow lanes. In some places the bridges over the culverts were only two lanes wide.

I imagine the firefighters are wore out at this point. Hopefully others have gone into give them a rest.

I can see why some thought it might be the Mississippi. Folks in SE US getting some needed rain, just wish it could fall in CA!!!

My BIL is in the La Mesa area of San Diego. As of last night, the fires were about 20 miles away from his house. The smoke and ash are a big problem. He says it is hard to breathe if you go outside. People are being asked to stay off the roads so emergency vehicles can get through More...

Rayray - there was no mention of sheep, which I imagine your dreams consist of, however, mine do not...but I do dream in colour which apparently signifies that my zinc levels are within the norm, which my dreams are not...and do we ever know what they mean (dreams that is)? My thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by the firestorm in southern California. My husband worked for the California Department of Forestry for 30 years fighting wildland fire. Selfishly, I'm so relieved he is retired and not down there - as he was many times throughout his career. More...

2:07 Still watching the horror of the fires on the news and praying that all people and animals reach safe shelter. On such a perfect autumn day here, it's so difficult to imagine the devastation that's taking place in California.

Regarding media coverage of the California fires, we'll probably never know how many people were evacuated. Yesterday, estimates were "more than a million". Today's news says half a million people were evacuated. I wonder where Associated Press gets their figures? In any case, some More...
