CYNB!!!!! You've just added a whole new meaning to 'vent'. I don't like the mental images (or aromas) that I'm getting.

Has anybody heard anything more about the poles switching from north to south. Last I heard the magnetic hot spots were all over the place. My late husband thought it could be linked to global warming.

I don't think there is a problem about people having a say on easy, I just think we did that one so why do it again! My feelings on the matter are I am doing my bit which is the best I can do, so why stress about things I have no control over?
Personally, I actually believe the world is stuffed, More...

GannieMo, how awful for both of you. But the least you can do is drink Steve's share too. My night is ruined too. My stove just won't go. It keeps tripping our safety pack. I think we'll just have to buy dinner tonight. Shucks.

Jim, thanks for that update on Beijing - I do hope you get to that party - it would be wonderful. I love the opening ceremonies of the Olympics - matter of fact, I love the Olympics. I always think, I won't watch too much and then find myself parked in front of the TV most of the day for the duration. We'll all await your updates.

eaa - only hazarding a guess here, but do they all contain letters?
03/Aug/08 6:23 PM
 |  |

Jim - there is nothing like being there. My mom's a travel agent & said the price of the tickets were outrageous (that was through the outfitting travel agencies) people are paying it. I'm glad I did my Olympics 24 years ago - could never afford what we did then - thank God for the ticket lottery coming through big time with both opening & closing.

I think I had way too many zeros in that figure. I don't think I did the calculation correctly at all. I just know that I can't afford the tickets.

But as I said, it is quite remarkable to be here at this time. And my scientific colleagues are wonderful. We have had many interesting discussions already, after just one week.

I am not too confident in your comment about the increase since Industrial Revolution being higher than ever before in earth history. Unfortunately the Industrial Revolution within our present 1000 year cycle coincided with the phase of increasing T and CO2 just before previous peaks. A More...

I wonder about that (pole switching) - and the ozone holes - too.
One wonders if a 1000y peak of solar emissions is associated with other solar effects as well. We are at the end of an era, but I wouldn't go so far as to say, as Gail does, that the earth is stuffed. If it stuffed, do More...
