After reading the last few comments, I went to Update Details and unchecked the box about others knowing when I was online. I wondered if that would make the "Add _____ as friend" choice disappear. It didn't. What I have discovered is that once a person is on your friends list, that choice no longer appears on their page for you.

Oops ... was that the "pass it on" thing. Hope I didn't let the cat out of the bag. Watch out Woodstock.

I believe the idea behind the "Friend" concept was requested by people who chat a lot, on SA pages, etc. People could check to see who was online and jump in for a chat. As I said, I don't mind being on some one's list of friends as what it does do, even if you don't want people to know More...
