Bill: Loved the supermarket joke!
We, too, are having warm weather. I'm worried all the snow in the mountains is melting before our ski trip. Weird after the freeze we had 2 weeks ago. Sounds like the midwest is getting our cold snap now.

1966 I was a busy mother of 2, a college student who also was active in the civil rights movement. I would travel to areas in Delaware,Maryland and Pa. 'testing the market so to speak', writing reports and gaining life credits towards my delayed undergraduate degree. I had had the opportunity to More...

Amelia, I offer you my condolences and can relate to the question of 'what would it be like if..., but not quite in the same way. I lost a child, a little girl, shortly before she was due. I never got over people trying to make me feel better by telling me that I was young and could have more...I More...

Amelia, I didn't mean to ignore your comment about your son - I hadn't read the earlier posts. I'm sorry for your loss.

In 1966 I was 7. I went Kayaking on a loch in Tayvallich in Scotland with my dad, we caught fish and cooked it on the fire, I hid mine in the tent as it had eyes and I couldn't eat it... I didn't know how to blow a bubble billy, but I could ride my bike with no hands on the handle bars...

Amelia - the hardest thing to bear x

Amelia: So SAD. Losing a child is the hardest!
In 1966 I, like Sarah Beth, was in 3rd/4th grade. Don't remember too much so nothing traumatic must have happened that year. I don't even remember my teachers even though I know their names! I remember I was taking piano lessons and I hated my teacher, but she was friends with my mother so it never occurred to me to protest.

Mamacita 2,That's great that you got to work for Dr.King.He was such a good person!

Really wish I could remember something about 1966. Maybe I was mastering the art of colors and shapes, and playing dress up with all of my mom's great hats that she had!

Snow is falling not a fun ride home from work today

1966: Teaching at Melville Elementary School in Portsmouth, RI, US; married to a man in the US Navy; just learning about life by myself as he was aboard ship in the Mediterranean Sea.

Amelia - Kid's shouldnt die before their parents. Very sad.

In 1966. I was not even born. My dad was 6 and my mum was 5. So they didnt even know each other then. They lived in germany and met when they were 15 and 16 respectively. I came along in 1980

Nurn: For you, a non-yukky (is that a word) joke:

A schoolteacher injured his back and had to wear a plaster cast around the upper part of his body. It fit under his shirt and was not noticeable at all. On the first day of the term, still with the cast under his shirt, he found himself More...

1966 – I had just turned 4 and left my birth country and commenced a 6-week journey to the land of opportunity and to join my father. My mother, sister, brother and I left Greece and headed Down under. We traveled by ship and I recall More...

The Smiths were unable to conceive children and decided to use a surrogate
father to start their family. On the day the surrogate father was to
arrive, Mr. Smith kissed his wife and said, 'I'm off. The man should be
here soon' Half an hour later, just by chance a door-to-door baby More...

Yay Canuk Greg! and yukky is definitely a word (now)! Have you told us about you in 1966 yet, or did I miss it? What were you doing with your grandchildren in that year? (yikes i'm in trouble now...)

The New Weight Loss Program

Nurn: Look out your window. See those two elderly men sitting on the park bench giving you the eye? Be forewarned. I'm not one of them, but they have you in their sights now for that remark, as they're my 'godfathers'. In 1966 (I posted a comment already) I was young and wild, aged 17, and soured More...

André - I can't stomach fish-eyes either. Bubble blowing - ah yes, by the time I hit my teens I could chew 10 Bubbly bubble gums (those pink round ones) at one time. The bubbles I could blow were the same size as my head. Got chucked out of a history class when the 'bang' of my burst bubble More...

Regarding that last remark of mine, I have way too much time on my hands today.
Being the sec. of our local U3A, I am just relaxing after typing up the minutes of our last meeting and publishing the Feb. newsletter for 110 members etc.
I found Soduko easy today, probably my fastest time ever.
 |  |
Whoops, Sudoku, and I can't pronounce it either!
 |  |

Billy-page1-I know it was a long time ago!!!
 |  |

Hey Gwen, my mum's in U3A-she ran a couple of groups until this year-now she just goes to them. She loves it!
 |  |
Amelia, you are so strong to share. I will never know that loss, yet I've witnessed my parents handle the death of a son, and it was tough. That's been seventeen years ago, and I still wonder what life would be like if I had my brother around to bridge the gap. He was way too much fun. And so I take the memories and live life with a smile knowing I had an angel on loan.
 |  |
Mary - Bibra Lake - I was in an acrylic art group which moved into the U3A, then I was elected the Pulic Officer, now I'm the Secretary. I would rather just be a member enjoying the groups, like learning to play Mahjong, the History group looks good too. There doesn't seem to be enough time in the week for me now.

1966? I was eight, the youngest of six siblings, not fully able to understand the turbulence of that time in America with the assassination of JFK still lingering. I was too affected to be unfazed by the Civil Rights Movement. I was riveted by the music of the day, the protests of injustice... Vietnam. And so, a feisty young militant emerged.
