Mornin', all. More of the same, I'm afraid. Cloudy with afternoon thunderstorms. Wind shift to NE last night created lots of lightning. It hit a gasoline tanker in the nearby Port, setting the onshore storage pipes on fire. The crew chopped the lines and anchored up in the channel, with everyone safe. About 200 firefighters kept the fire away from the storage tanks. Nobody hurt.

Promises to be a warm one here but not reaching 90. It's hard to stay inside doing housework when it's bright and sunny outside!

Hello, Karen. Yes, it was one time when all the drills really paid off. The Danish and Phillipino gang on the tanker took fireaxes to the lines and got away fast. Even environmental damage was minimized by the speed and skill of everybody involved. What damage there was is being contained and cleaned up now.

Jennifer is beautiful. Ian - the lightning was the cause of the terrible 60 acre California fire also. 40 homes were lost, 3 lives and numerous pets and livestock. It is still in the 3-digits in the inland part of California. Yikes!!!!

Good mAen, all. Overnight showers cooled things down a bit here. Praying for families and children close to the situation in Lebanon and Israel. So sad on both sides.

Jennifer will is discovering that leaves are not yummy. Try ice cream, Jennifer. Still hot here today. Finished my walk about 9AM and it was already too hot to bear.

To all those suffering heat... we have a frost this morning.

I was wondering how people were posting 4 & 5 minutes for completing a tough sudoku when it was taking me 20 minutes to do. Then I started punching right or wrong and completed it in 4:06. But that takes all the fun out of it. No challange to that. Sudoku has to change the format to make people work for the challange

Gene, many people here have good times without using those help buttons. Some people have been playing the game for a long while, and have just gotten good at it. Keep practicing yourself, and you'll see your own times improve as well.

Anne,agree with you --I hated playing on paper, but we did a round trip from SC to RI n the last week, and I finished 90 puzzles along the way. Stopped using the buttons when I got home. LINDA: Your story reminds me of when my older son was around 4 or 5. His dad and I were talking about what people eat in other counties, and that we had tried snails in a French restaurant and they were delicious. The next day Glen said he tried one in the backyard and he didn't like it at all!
