Hi GB,
Maybe this makes more sense...
If b7=5 or b7=9, d7=2
Proof: if B7=9, then i8=9, e8=5, d7=2. If B7=5, d7=2.
Easy to the end from there.
(I need to take better notes!)

about gb's puzzle:
Actually I had to give up the computer too, so I am late.
First I thought he was kidding us since I didn't write it down properly and it couldn't be solved. (sorry gb). Then easy until 52 filled. At this point, every row, block or column doesn't give anything more. So More...

we get the chains 25/257/257 and 59/259/259. So we can remove 2 & 5 from the other cells d9, d8, f9 & f8.That gives d7=2. (we don't remove 7 or 9 because we need 2 of both in the 2 blocks and the chains only contain one 7 and 0ne 9).
and then to the end. good night.

Thanks for the extra puzzle gb. I got to 51 filled and then played out strings from 2/8 in a5. I discovered that 8 in a5 led to d1=2 and to d7 = 2. Therefore, a5 = 2. And from there it was easy eliminations.

THANKS talking moose and mike from texas for your comments yesterday! (Where in TX Mike?) I'm definitely going to start printing them out to work the chains, because I always get lost/frustrated when I try it on the screen. When I first started Sudoku a few months ago, I thought I would never More...

Hi everyone! well I don't time myself on this one as it distracts me and I do okay I do try to use logic and plod away I don't it wrong to often. but i do it because I enjoy the challenge for my intellect, which as we get older starts to decline, oh damn where did I leave my ?? what was it again??

Even I only took 45 minutes without errors so it must be easy!!

14:50 Easy as pie! In response to Tazmanian Boxer, I turn the timer on as soon as the page opens and leave it on until completion. Some people apparently leave it off while they set up possibilities, but I think that's probably cheating. Congratulations to the poster of the pic. The little girl obviously has attractive parents.

To KJ from Lobethal.
My sister's ex husband was the sole copper in Lobethal about25 years ago - maybe more

Guessed on one pair - seems every 'tough' one requires that. 10:50 which is good for me - been doing Sudoku for about two months.

Seems like you can guess, then either spend 30 minutes plus going nowhere, or get lucky and solve it. Occasionally, I will check for 'incorrect' just after the More...

:-S dont mean to sound dumb but having just started the tough ones i dont understand these coments with If b7=5 or b7=9, d7=2
Proof: if B7=9, then i8=9, e8=5, d7=2. If B7=5, d7=2. I am guessing its a puzzle but I dont get it.....

12:29 by far my best on tough, didn't have to use possibilities

Thanks for comments Howardl from DC. I think I will stick to the basics as they are far more challenging. I do Sudoku puzzles whereever I see them, in newspapers, magazines, etc. Have obtained a pocket size book of them for when I travel at Christmas. I don't particularly like travelling by 'plane so need to keep occupied and what better way than with a whole book of them.

hello all,
hey gb from france what do you mean with all these
000010806
100000400
007006030
etc numbers?
 |  |
It's a sudoku ria- As today's Sudoku was not as challenging as some, gb (who's a bit of a sudoku guru- along with a few others) set up a more challenging one. If you look, you will find 9 rows of 9. The 0s are the numbers that have to be filled- Good luck!!

8:22, without any hints, using NinDigi.

To 'gb' and '7 degrees and snowing': you can always use 'NinDigi', if you have a Windows PC. It will generate puzzles, or let you create your own, and save them/print them/email them to your friends/etc.

Which part of the NT are you from. I'm guessing by NT that you mean Northern Territory?? But I may be wrong!
