Good mAen to everyone around the world. Oh, just give me a Margarita and I take a rest here under this hut!

We have been out to the Farmer's Market this morning and then to visit a friend in the hospital. I then sat down to my computer to find all of these birthday wishes! What a More...

I thought the Olympic opening ceremonies showed what a delight it must be for the communist rulers of China to take 10000 hand-picked slaves to perform in lockstep. It reminded me of US Secretary of State Madeline Albright's trip to North Korea a few years back. The NorKors had 50,000 people in a More...

By the way, Jim, I agree with you 100% about China. We did not watch the opening ceremonies last night for the very reasons you put forth.

Tonight at Britt is Part 2 of the Golden Age of the Silver Screen.

Todays U-tube video shows the importance of musical scoring to a movie. You & I may disagree with HIS "Top 10" picks for Musical Scoring. He looks to have gotten the point.

Hope you enjoy it - starts with JD.

The one that hit home for me was "The Godfather"
score. That is an interesting concept....how important is the score to the movie. In my view, very!
Thanks, Eve.

In a lot of respects, I feel the same, Jim. On a different note, those people have grown up in that kind of environment and know nothing else. I am sure that, in their own way, they were proud to be part of the ceremony. From a Western point of view it would seem coersed servitude, but to a More...

Eve - enjoyed your U-tube. It's a pity that original scoring for movies and TV shows is declining. Who could imagine "Jaws" or "The Sopranos" without the music?

From last nights program:

The question inevitably comes: is film music real classical concert music or is its appeal merely meretricious? Some tradionalists dismiss film music as phony classical music, but here's where they go wrong: they forget that classical composers wrote what they More...

Who is your favorite film composer?

If you were putting together your top 10 film scores, what would they be?

You may need to go to: http://www.imdb.com/ to help you with who the composer was for the film you are thinking about.

The stoplight on the corner buzzes when it is safe to cross the street. I was crossing with a somewhat dense co-worker of mine and she asked if I knew what the buzzer was for. I explained that it signals to blind people when the light is red.
She responded, appalled, "What on earth are blind people doing driving?"

Love it, Greg!
Eve, I'd have to ponder for awhile to come up with ten. The first one that came to mind was Max Steiner who wrote the wonderful music for "Gone With The Wind".

Eve, it is tough to name composers for many of the movies I enjoyed, as many of the movie scores were just adaptations of the original stage musical. Mo named one already that came to mind, and that was M.A.S.H., but three others I'll site are The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (Ennio Morricone), The More...

I would have to say my favorite Composer/Scorer is Miklos Rozsa.

I have a hard time ordering the best scores, let alone the best overall composers/scorers.

Greg, re your beeping stoplight. Many years ago, hubby, a friend and I were waiting to cross the road. It was the first time we had come across these beeping stoplights and it was near The Blind Society headquarters. My friend said "I know what they are for, they're for the DEAF people"!
