Robin from Michigan,
That's a really good question. Even though its in a foreign language. That particular type of word is very disrespectful. I dont think its appropriate to have it where someone (who speaks that language) might see it and obviously like we did.... translate it. If this is More...

Angela - You are so right. These guys work for a construction company. I just don't think they care. I guess the thing that bothers me, now that I know the stickers are not good, my girlfriends daughter is 10 and she sees those on the computer. Hopefully, out of respect for her child, she will have him remove the stickers or keep the lap top hidden.

Ah oh!!!!! This is a pic of my nephew's son taken nearly a year ago. I don't know if you all remember me getting into trouble from him for submitting his child's photo on here without his permission? I did ask Gath if it was possible to remove any photos of my great nephews and nieces More...

ROBIN from MI...I live in Applegate Oregon most of the year and Sno-bird in Yuma AZ from 1st of Nov. thru most of March. We go down to Tucson often and really like it down there. It is a bit crowded but if I were going to live in AZ full time, it would be Tucson. A good friend of mine when to UofA there in the 70's and yes, it has changed a lot. Many retired folks moving in full time.

Hello Eden! I hope your softball game went well! It is warm enough here today to play softball, but snow is forcast for tomorrow.

Remembering our Veterans today. Today would have been my Mom's 82nd birthday. She always felt like her birthday was special. Her father was a WWI vet who engineered trains behind enemy lines. He was gassed (mustard) many times. He developed 'shell shock' (PTSD now) and drank. That and his More...

Deb...we never saw the picture of your sister's nephew's son who is....I'm tired just trying to figure out who babysat who and who played soccer, not only once but twice in the same weekend....phew!!!
 |  |
Okay, Deb/Brissy, I'll keep your secret about the picture. If you hadn't outed yourself, we never would have put two and two together...lol. Since its done and you have been told, its nothing to worry about at this point. Good to see that while you are concerned about your sister's health, you More...

Sarah Beth, Keep the happy memories close to your heart, and be proud of those good things that happened and remember that it takes both the good and bad, the happy and sad things in life to make us who and what we are! 'Lest We Forget' is a very appropriate phrase for all.

cute kid. but he seems scared of the cat.
 |  |
Thanks Mamacita, I tend to get maudlin this time of year.
 |  |
Sarah Beth, what a coincidence, it is my m-i-l's birth on Nov 11 also, yesterday here. She was 85!
Deb, I have a girlfriend who is like your sister. Her daughter is a hairdresser who works from home and she and her hubby have the kids (2 & 4) often. They even built a house next door to make it easier!!
 |  |
Kat I know what you mean but doing them here so much more fun!

Dave
hope the operation goes well and you get a great outcome from your hip replacement operation.
SaraBeth
remember the good times and celebrate all that was wonderful about your mums life.

have a good day/night one and all

Dave, good luck on your hip replacement. My Uncle has had both of his replaced, and he is back to dancing and golfing. And best of all, he is pain free. At the age of 76, he has come out of retirement to teach vo-ag part time, much to my Aunts consternation. He is now teaching the grandchildren of some of his first students. He really loves working with the kids and believes in them.

Judy, I just asked where the fossil beds are, as you must have been hoping. Sigh. Got me again.

Martha, months ago I commented to you that I had grown up in Los Gatos, and that the mention of Saratoga reminded me of home. It's sure different whenever I go back now.
 |  |
Keith, I lived in Los Gatos for about six months, mid-80s.

Robin from Michigan, this reminds me of when my hubby was active duty in the navy. he was a seabee (CB = construction battalion) and alot of those guys had mouths on them too. I think its just something out of ignorance that they talk like that. I sat with some of them and they dont really think More...

Nurn, wow, small world.

Deb, my first thought when I saw the picture was, I wonder if this is one of Deb's?' He's too cute...looks onery!
 |  |
Lol, Dave, come on keep up.....It's not really that hard to figure out but I will let you off this time as you have other more important things on your mind!!! Hope all goes well with your hip replacement and I'm sure you'll be back and fighting fit for your trips away sooner than you think.

I was out to dinner while you were breakfasting yesterday. I stopped at the World Market and picked up some Arnott 'biscuits' and malomite. The clerk said 'I heard the FDA banned Vegemite.' Malomite wasn't bad, wasn't addictive. Arnott biscuits were good. They didn't have Tim-Tams. How do they compare to Arnotts?
 |  |
Angela - do you really think it's ok for guys to think/talk like that just because they don't yet have a daughter? Surely they should have been brought up to respect everyone, male or female? Why should there be any difference?

Hey y'all! ...a moment of silence for those who fought in the wars and gained us our well enjoyed freedom. We will never forget.

Where we live, it is still the 11th Nov. This morning, Pete and I went out to the war memorial, which just happens to be outside our house, in front of the church. This is the 5th. time that we have done this - we have lived here since Oct. 2001. The people in the village know us, and realise that More...
