Three men died on Christmas Eve and were met by Saint Peter at the pearly gates.

'In honour of this holy season,' Saint Peter said, 'You must each possess something that symbolizes Christmas to get into heaven.'

The first man fumbled through his pockets and pulled out a lighter. More...

I think that jokes loaded with sexual themes or innuendo are usually appreciated most by those who

1.) have never had sex (or not yet, to be kind);

or

2.) won't ever have it again.

I do, if they have some element of wit or cleverness, and don't just depend on a nervous, reflexive, tittering (no pun intended), and somewhat embarrassed laugh because a bodily function has been mentioned out loud.

That's what prime time TV (and their advertisers) depend on...

For those who are feeling a bit chilly, it has just hit +42ºC here (= about 107ºF) - and it hasn't reached the hottest part of the day yet!

Hi! Just survived four rehearsals of the Heritage Pageant! My nerves are rather frayed. Kids singing at a different tempo than the instrumental accompaniment, swaying to the beat but in different directions (watched in horror as half of one row in opposite direction than the other half and cringed at the rhythmic impacts!), and hearing an exuberantly loud child singing off key.

Ok tomorrow it's the parents turn to watch their little darlings! (Today the students got to watch each perform. Since our school was built for a smaller population, we had to have four performances because the auditorium could fit only a fourth of the students at a time.)

Well, 'Peter' or is that 'Ian'? I am in total agreement. As my dear, and now departed, Mother was wont to say: 'there is enough vulgarity in the world without you adding to it'. But then perhpas she added to it by giving birth to me!

Ian from Sydney -turn on your air-con and keep cool anyway possible.
It's positively chilly here in Brissie now - only 28C. I love it.

CG & Kathy - I agree. Anonymity doesn't do much for me either. I believe you should take credit/shame for your actions and words without hiding from responsibility.

Hello Doug from Kalgoorlie - nice to see you are still visiting the site. We don't see your name here usually.
Cheers

Victoria, thanks for the advice. The air conditioner is running full chat and I am reasonably comfortable. My single aim on these hot days is to live through them - nothing else matters.
It reached 43ºC before 'cooling down' to 41 again. Such is summer.

Oh Ian, do go swimming, shopping in an air conditioned mall, to the movies, wherever it's cool! I did my conversions to Fahrenheit and OMG that's miserable temperature, comparable to our Death Valley! Only time I'd visit there is during winter when it's a cool 70's!

Anonymity doesn't always work because your personality shows through and people can guess who you are. What is that saying? You can fool all of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time. Either way you still get caught by someone!

Dear Dave,

Four calling birds arrived in the mail today.
They are truly nice but don't you think that enough is enough?
You are being too romantic.

Affectionately,
Agnes

Hello to you too Anne. I am on holidays in the big smoke (Perth); indeed it has been very smoky for the last two days, from the Harvey and region, bushfires. After putting out my washing at my son's house, I was amazed to find ash on my shirts. However this is minor of course when compared to the More...

ello Doug. Sure has been smokey in the big smoke. I refrained from doing any washing till today.

Hey Anne, countdown to Albany 9 days.

Hobart has wonderful weather. Today the maximum was 12C and the minimum was also 12C. Yesterday the maximum was 34C.
What does one wear to work - a sports shirt or a polar fleece.
I did have a Tiger Woods joke but I better not post it.

We always had Hibisci when we lived in Sydney but haven't never seen one in Tasmania. You can however grow Bouganvilleas, if you find the right spot.

Hello Rolanda.A wise decision re the laundry! I have had to rinse mine again, but as I said, that is nothing in the great scheme of things.
saylz, my son's bouganvillea (if that is how you spell it) is quite magnificent. It is a dark crimson in colour and he has espaliered (sp?) it against quite a high brick wall.It really is quite a sight. Cheers.

Did they forecast minus 4 or 5°C? Well, at 0900 hrs this morning my garden thermometer registered minus 9°C.
Even the dog got it's business over very fast. The sky is clear blue, though, and the sun is shining and I am very pleased with our new double glazed windows, extra insulation, and cast iron wood burning stoves.

Hello everyone, thanks Kate for the beautiful hibiscus, also Gmo for the photography link. CG I agree with all that you said and when we disagree with something that someone has said say your piece and leave it at that, not keep carrying on about it. I'll put my little soapbox away now.
