I remember reading "Sarum" by Rutherford and the description of the London Bridge in olden times. Businesses and homes on the bridge - polluting the river.

There is a walking bridge in Venice, Italy that has businesses all up and down it. Amazing!

There is one in Florence, too, Shiela

Amazing that it doesn't fall down with all of the weight!
Speaking of too much weight... have to go exercise to keep mine down! See you later!

Another reason to go to Florence, I see!
(I am REALLY going this time! Honest!)

The bridge in Florence is the Ponte Vecchio, "The Bridge of Gold", so named because the shops on it are almost exclusively goldsmiths. It crosses the Arno River. It's lit up at night and is pretty spectacular! There are a few restaurants, one where I had the best gelato ever!! Didn't buy any gold, though

I could only look when I went to Florence, too. Young single and camping. It was the middle of July and hot hot hot. I loved it and have always wanted to go back but maybe shouldn't it might spoil the memories as it would have all changed so much.

I hope nobody complains today that no-one is talking about the picture on Easy. I learned a lot, more than I probably needed to know. But then, knowledge is power.

They have tours across and into the Tower Bridge. There is a great museum in it.

The reason I'm late is that I rolled over and went back to sleep until I was thoroughly rested, then got up and was able to get started on Everything right away. Super Me! Everything doesn't take very long if your mild-mannered alter-ego is well rested.

BTW Fiona, I did the cryptoquotes yesterday and went away from the computer to do housework, came back several hours later, cleared away papers I didn't need to keep (you know where this is going...), kept on doing stuff, then a couple hours after that went to send my answers in and -- the trash was already on the curb.

Oh, I've always wanted to go to one of those Italian street bridges with all the shops up on the bridge. It was built that way to avoid taxes, wasn't it? A similar loophole to the way riverboat gambling happens in the States because it's not actually on land? Can anyone confirm this?

Good morning people. Slept in this morning, then had to play a game of spades with the computer. It gets angry if I don't.

Speaking of Tower Bridge in London, isn't there some old pictures of shops on it?

2:17 Hi to all.

Thought for the Day:

Elves are wonderful. They provoke wonder...
(I may become an elf if no-one minds...)

Has anyone else read Edward Rutherford's tome "Sarum"? If you enjoy historic novels - this is one of the best.

My mom loaned me "The Other Boleyn Girl", after I found that we may be related to her second husband.

On second thoughts maybe not...I've got no wonder to provoke...

Finally got around to changing my U-tube. For all of you old folks (like me), you may enjoy this - for you young folks (not on social security) may have a laugh at the past.

Absolutly Heidi! Knowledge = power. Sudokuland gives much knowledge. Therefore stay and play all day in Sudokland right? Sudokuland could become the most powerful nation on Earth. Just think what we could do. All the worldly people, thought provokers, poetic individuals, wise sages, a couple of hormonal women, a pot stirer or two and WOW!

Darn lost another a. Had that problem a few days ago. Plum, would you be so kind as to insert this -a- into the post addressed to you reguarding elves? Thanks.

Kathy, the Ponte Vechhio bridge in Florence is the only pre-war (WWII) bridge left in Florence. All the remaining bridges were destroyed by the German army when they retreated and all have since been rebuilt.

May I recommend a bottle of my Screen Image Reestablishment Spray? It comes in either a 12 or 20 oz. size.

André, I can see both your Suzanne Vega Youtube and the Johnny Depp cube is still there. I have no idea why you can't see them. Maybe you should try a refresh or possibly clean out your temporary internet files.

(that was for andre, of course, although anyone else is welcome to order a bottle. They make excellent gifts, especially for that hard-to-please person on your list. And consider ordering a spare 3 oz. travel size, for image-disappearance emergencies.)

I think Andre' may need a strong cup of coffee, maybe laced with whiskey, to open her eyes.

Glinda, your product sounds interesting. Fortunatly for me I have not had that issue. However, I do have issues with my preggy buddy not receiving my emails. Do you have a product that would ensure their delivery?

A man was getting a haircut prior to a trip to Rome. He mentioned the trip to the barber who responded, "Rome? Why would anyone want to go there? It's crowded & dirty and full of Italians. You're crazy to go to Rome. So, how are you getting there?"
"We're taking TWA," was More...
18/Apr/09 3:11 AM

No I've cleared everything Greg, anyone any ideas...

Glinda do I drink it or does it curdle coffee?

Heidi...does whiskey come in lace? I haven't lived!
