Warren, my 25 yo son (married last year) lives 3 miles away. If I do not see or hear from him every couple of weeks, I try to call. I call my 76 yo mother every other day since my dad died 2-1/2 years ago. Before that it was every week.

JUDY: Will look you up if I get back to San Diego!

WARREN: I used to call my mom about once every 3 weeks. I'm not one to talk on the phone much. I speak with my 27-yr-old son about that much now. Everyone is different - I've known people (usually women) who talk to their mothers More...

Warren, my 29 year old son only lives 20 minutes away, but we work opposite shifts so only manage to get together about every other month. Our main form of communication is email. If something important is going on in either one of our lives we communicate daily (or hourly) but on average we email More...

Warren, guess I will weigh in on your question. I too am in both boats as many here are. I am a parent with a child living away from home. 21 year old son lives about 25 minutes from us. speak to him on the average 1-2 a week, visit about 1 every couple of weeks, depends on if we are in the More...

Mike from Dayton: Yikes! Kansas in the hottest month of the year!
Warren from Philly: Sore subject. I think it depends on gender. My son's bride and her Mom talk daily, sometimes more than once a day. My son may call weekly or every two weeks, usually when he wants something. They have been known to ignore my calls on caller ID. I'm really not that bad!

Ooh, there was so much good commenting here this morning & I missed it all - darn! I was out sweltering in the heat playing tennis, pretty crazy, I know, but I do love it so.

8:58~well, my time suffered, due to (i beleive) a massively pounding headache. Still better than my first try a couple days ago online.

BILLY~ I shortened it just for you. there is a small history as to why i chose that name. but i don't have to stick with it.

JUDY~ hello, I'm not More...

My biggest thrill today was seeing the name of NAN - love your new label, west coast RETIREE!!!
I wrote a brief post to you a while back, but you may not have seen it. I actually did think of you on June 19, the day you retired, right?Sounds like you are getting the hang of retirement living More...

WARREN,
I'm a grown child, I talk to and see my parents almost every day; it is easy because we live quite close by, and also they love to see their grandchildren.

My oldest daughter (only 14) has just spent three weeks away from me - back tomorrow - and we only spoke about four or five times. At that age, you are too busy making your friends and your life and that is more important.

Kathy, I was going over some of my emails and you were asking about suzanne & my time in Minneapolis, there were a couple of posts on the 29th of june, and then 30, then after suzanne got back on the 6th or 7th of july. USA dates.

Have a good day!

CELIA FROM TORONTO - glad to hear your Mom got her tree removed okay, but I do understand how much she misses it. Please be sure to let me know when you'll be visiting Largo next. I would love to meet you, too.

Warren - I talk to each of my three daughters at least once a week, sometimes more, especially the youngest who's a single gal & lives only about 12 miles from us. My parents are no longer living, but I used to talk to them about once a week, too. Back when my oldest had her first baby (almost 10 More...

I have grown kids that have been out of the house for a few years each. We talk to them both 2-5 times per week, plus emails back and forth. our feeling is that if you want to stay in touch, we need initiate as much as they do. On the other hand, I dont talk to my mother but about every other week or so....shame on me. I will call her now.

Warren, my parents are gone, as are my wife's. We have two daughters that are in their middle 30s. One is a 3 hour drive away, the other an 8 hour drive. We try to visit between once every month or two, but sometimes it goes as long as three. They both work full time and are busy with their own More...

GEOFF FROM SYDNEY - are you feeling any better? Sorry the flu bug hit you.

MICKEY - I hope you are in labor right now! Do you have someone lined up to make the birth announcement for you here? Don't imagine you'll be taking your computer to the hospital!

I think that Ian obviously has a serious reason to have moved away from the easy comments page. He obviously doesn't care to comment about it, so we should leave him alone. It may or may not have something to do with some of the recent controversies on the easy pages.

KEITH - so what is the mighty Skunk Train?? Guess I could Google, but easier if you explain! Thanks.

If anyone really misses the Boston weather reports, it's extremely easy to check out the hard comments page - you don't have to do the hard puzzle if you don't want to!!

Kathy, it is a tourist excursion train that used to be freight and lumber from the coast inland and back. It goes between Willits and Fort Bragg, the next town north of Mendocino. It goes over some of the crookedest track in the country, and through some very beautiful country. It used to be steam More...

Warren, my mom died 1n 94, but she used to call me all the time when I first moved from home when i was 16. Used to drive me crazy. Then when I moved to Seattle, she kept forgetting about the time difference and would call me way too early in the morning! It finally settled into calling every More...

Warren, are you going to tell us if there is any reason for this question? Just curious.

Warren, both my parents are gone, but I used to talk to both of them once a day, or more, since it was not long distance. I talk to my daughter twice a week, or more if need be, and with my son, who lives close, I may talk to him every day, or once a month, depends on what is going on. But, I do More...

WARREN, my husband's dad died in '73, but he calls his mom every week or 2. (We found out she had more medical complaints/trips to the emergency room if he called more often.) My mom has been gone about 13 years, but just lost my dad a year ago. My 5 siblings and I (all in different locations) More...

Does anybody here rent? I have rented for the last 2 years since my (divorce). After the first year I had to leave as owner sold the unit. I mean...How do people get to see these places without taking time off work which in this day and age is very much frowned upon. Plus as a casual (which most people are these days) time off means no pay which is sometimes very hard financially.
Sorry, just feel like a whinge. Sick of moving More...
