Yes, the brief good news pulled back ... not good to hear. Still sending positive thoughts, Ian.

Now I know why I drew a blank. ''Be wise after the event'' is an expression I've never heard before.

My grandmother used to say something similar, Keith.
I heard, ''It's easy to be smart after the fact'' while I was growing up. Way too many times, I'm embarrassed to say.

My grandmother's parting advice was always, ''Don't step in anything soft.''

Great day for new beginnings. I did get a tall, dark, handsome male, enter my home, first thing this morning, but instead of coal, he brought quiche. Works for me. I have also taken out my first bag of trash. Remember, tradition says nothing is to leave the house, but I still need to be on a stuff More...

I searched.

Round Foods: Cakes, pastries, cookies, and round fruits like clementines are often enjoyed on New Year’s Day as their shape signifies that the old year has come to a close and the New Year holds the promise of a fresh start.

Cornbread: Because it’s color is similar to that of gold, this bread is enjoyed by those hopeful for a prosperous year.
