Can't believe I haven't been around since school let out - it has been BUSY!! I just turned in my keys this morning - so I am officially out of the school building.
Jeanie and I are leaving today to help some friends move themselves to South Carolina. I will be back in about a week and try to reestablish some sort of regularity.

Thanks, Andre - I certainly intend to - though you should see my "office" right now after I moved stuff home from school. Months worth of boxes to go through.

So he cut the heads off the flowers, and it worked. He no longer has to use the stupid machine. Sounds like my son. He was good at getting out of things. Of course I was forbidden to use the sewing machine after I broke the head off the needle not twice but three times. 50 years later and I still can't use it. I forgot how.

Jamie, so glad to see you and hear your retirement progress. We were itching to throw you a retirement party. Maybe it can still happen in a week. I have fond memories of turning in my keys. There was a real finality to it.

Some advice, jamie ... set those boxes in a back corner of the garage out of the way, wait a few years, and you can just throw all of it away.

Jamie, congratulations on your retirement. I know what you mean about the boxes and boxes to sort through. It took me almost a year (I must admit that I was rather sporadic) to get things put in order after I retired. Enjoy this new and wonderful phase of your life!!

Keith and Linda - thanks - much of what came home will be taken back to school with directions to throw it out if nobody wants it (there is some really good math stuff, but the current educational environment doesn't lend itself to anything outside a very regimented, test-oriented curriculum).
Have to go babysit (the 1 1/2 year-old of our friends that are moving) - see all in about a week.

One last answer - YES, CG, I have. Now I am really off, or the house might never recover because it isn't baby-proofed.

Quick post, didn't have time to read further than finding Karen STILL here. Dang girl, that baby's gonna be a toddler by the time you give birth! Just kidding, but doesn't it feel like it?!?

FYI-- Gonna reach 90F here by Tues. Very Very unusual for Northern Wisconsin.

Shiela, that's why I mentioned it... Some years back trainfest was held in Sacramento, CA. I attended. Took AMTRAK from Portland to Sac and returned on a train pulled by "4449". That locomotive is awesome! The main drive wheels are 84" in diameter (7'). This locomotive is the one used to pull the "Freedom Train" around the U.S. in 1976.

Ah, Jerry ... you take me back to the good ole days. My husband was a steam NUT and knew every engine ever made, which was where, when they were going to operate, when they were to be scrapped, etc. We spent most of our time chasing them, so he could get pictures and record the sounds. Okay, I have things to do. I'll leave you with this.....

A family of three tomatoes were walking downtown one day when the little baby tomato started lagging behind.
The big father tomato walks back to the baby tomato, stomps on it, squashing it into a red paste, and says, "Ketchup!"

I'm back for a little R&R. My e-mail seems to have gone nutty. Can't send anything. Both accounts are telling me my name and password are incorrect. I keep re-typing it and it says it's STILL wrong.

When I rode back from Sacramento, there were "chasers" everywhere. Some places they just couldn't keep up though. I was told that we hit the 80mph mark a time or two... Overpasses were packed. Parallel roads were jammed. It was fun. Then there were the "photo ops". More...
