Anne/Albany WA: I loved LadyHawke. It was one of my favourites as a teen! (Hey, I still love it now!)

'What to wear to a sudoku event?'

Why, dress to the nines, of course!
(then the eights, etc. etc. etc.)
 |  |
I don't usually read the jokes or comment, but just had to see what Hugh had to offer that you thought wasn't suitable. Thanks for some really good laughs that I might not have had otherwise!

The swag is more than just a thin bed, it is also part of the iconic Australain past. Our unofficial national anthem is waltz sing Matilda - it starts '
Once a jolly swagman camped by a billabong' (waterhole). When people went roaming they took their swag with them - it was covered in canvas to keep it from getting wet.
 |  |
If you get Aussies together in another country with a few drinks - especially with sport or some kind of drawing together event the song will come out, usually just the chorus
 |  |
You have to be in good shape to play that game
 |  |
Topaz - Your right about Waltzing Matilda - when a bunch of us (sailors) went to the UK many years ago we very quickly had to learn the words, as we were expected to give a rendition almost at every social occasion. sadly to the detriment of the listeners although we imporoved after a few beers....

A matilda, I believe, is a reference to a swag - German version.

To FASHION FOOL: great advice for what to wear to an international Sudoku gathering!
 |  |
Judy - that word the Keith said...you know the one you hadn't heard for a hundred years...well my mother told me about it - Ed's too. LOL
 |  |
Fashion Fool - sounds like strip sudoku!!!!
 |  |
It's also spelled ''addlepated,'' not ''adlepated.''
 |  |
Hugh: have never heard that, why would someone dance with a swag? will have to go back and read the words again
 |  |
Spellcheck, I don't think I'd ever seen it written out. The spelling was a guess. Thanks.

Hello ap - are you a cricket follower too? I prefer the one dayers as they are far more exciting to watch.
I remember on my first trip back to England 5yrs ago I was on a coach tour and there was a group of ladies from USA among our group and they asked me to explain the game of cricket to them. More...

ap - where in the world is insia? Has there been another coup in your part of the world?
 |  |
hey question - head for pakistan then turn wight - oops right???!
 |  |
You don't have a clue, do you Loza? Maybe that was a message to ap? I think she is bright enough to work it out. Are you?
 |  |
2.52 - howdy all.

Topaz - Waltzing Matilda has nothing to do with dancing it means that the swaggie carried his swag wherever he went, which was all over the countryside. So the term waltzing matilda meant travelling from station to station, looking for work usually, and invloved a lot of travel by foot. (Shanks' pony)

I do not believe these times. I do not believe anyone can do even easy in less than three minutes. Some honesty would be good
 |  |
possum: I thought that too when I first started on this site, but as you imerse yourself in Sudoko world, you see patterns and it just gets quicker. I have only broken the 3 minute barrier twice, I usually range in the 3-4 minute, but it is possible and that is being honest!

happy weekend!!!
 |  |
Anne - you ready to yell 'heaveho'!!!
 |  |
Mel - is Mark going to the game? (and does he have permission yet to travel to Vic next week?)
 |  |
Mark is still in Sweden Col - but he will be watching it over the internet - if the customers let him this time!!! And I have to tape it - just in case.... as for next week when the dockers win (rofl!) he wasn't able to prebook tickets or something so he lent our membership cards to someone else. I think this is all in his grand plan to be able to get a plasma!!
 |  |
Guess who I'm going for!!! CARN THE DOCKERS........
 |  |
MAMACITA 2 - ohhhhh, what porkies you tell!!!! You haven't got the credit card because you haven't got the pot - I have the pot and thus the credit card and NOooooo LK, I don't have to dig it up because it's not buried!!! HA! You thought you'd trick me there didn't you!! Nononononoooo! And it's staying in my safe keeping until Pete lifts anchor on Monday!

Mel - Perth

Yes, Mel, missed my badminton tonight straight after work to come home and watch the game.

UP THE DOCKERS!!!!
 |  |
What a buzz, being here.
 |  |
OK please tell me that my hubby is just joking, he wants me to point the webcam at the telly so that he can watch the game from overseas...... . Surely that is taking being a fan too far
 |  |
Hugh - is Canberra safe on Sunday night because we'll both be working?
Or is it because we're off the streets?
 |  |
Fiona - In light of recent postings, I take exception to you associating 'porkies', with telling lies. We pigs are decent and honest fellows and like nothing better than a pile of weet bix mixed with milk for breakfast.
