I think that your daughter will be soooo embarrassed getting mail from her parents' friends. She'll get so much mail from your request that she'll have to explain herself to everyone. I would cringe if it were me!

Nurn - she told me to ask all my friends to send her letters. She didn't know I was going to ask an international group of friends, but she will be thrilled anyway - not embarrassed at all!

Glenn: The thought is nice, but keep in mind we do get spammers on this site too.

Glenn - fair enough if that's what your daughter wants. But isn't it true that most people, particularly young people, communicate by email nowadays, rather than snail mail? I would have thought that your inbox would be more of an indicator than your mailbox of your popularity (unless your inbox is full of viagra offers & such like); but nobody sees your inbox, unless you show it to them.

Canuk Greg: Spammers use email. There was no email address listed; nor will there be an email address listed.

At this point I think she would even enjoy getting junk mail, even if it was to have the pleasure of throwing it into the trash!

Right, I will try to explain. I was a supporting member, and probably will be again, though my problem is with pay pal, cheques and it is all a bit complicated for my little brain. So the end result is, not supporting member at the moment, but when I get me A into G, I will be!

Glenn, I think it is a wonderful idea, you are a caring dad. She will start getting mail from all over the world and if it is postcards she can put them on a bulletin board and take a break from studying and just look at all the beautiful places we have in the world.

Nurn - she gets lots of email and has a lot of friends on her myspace and facebook pages. This is the first time she has had her own address and she loves to write, so she is enamored of the ancient art of writing real letters. Glenn, I'm not trying to be critical either - it's just that I think that these things can get out of hand if you put her address 'out there'. We've all heard about this sort of thing: it can become a torrent of junk mail which can easily get out of control for no good reason, or even a supposedly good reason, as in the whole 'Craig Shergold' case.
