Cathy, having witnessed both my parents suffer through strokes, I know how important (and difficult) the rehabilitation process is. May you and your mom stay strong and not falter through the ordeal. It will pay dividends if you keep it up.

Gauss
About 100 years ago, a young boy (who grew up to be a great mathematician) by the name of Gauss (pronounced "Gowss") was at school when the class got in trouble for being too loud and misbehaving. Their teacher, looking for something to keep them quiet for a while, told her More...

Ivy - I have a Chokin plate collection and one of them is the Full Moon Festival. Is there a relationship between this Japanese Festival and the Moon Cake Festival?

After a little googling..
Moon or Mooncake Festival, also called Mid-Autumn Festival (Sept. 15, this year) Chinese celebrate every year on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar, when the moon is of maximum brightness.
Mooncakes, typically round and traditionally filled with sweet bean or lotus seed paste with 4 egg yolks in the center representing the 4 phases of the moon.

Well, my goodness, boys and girls! A good time was had by most, it appears. I'm back sooner than planned. I had a good afternoon with my son yesterday. He took me to a grocery store called "Papa Joe's." It was incredible! Words can't describe it. It was one of those stores you just have to go see for yourself. They have one in Birmingham and Rochester or is it Rochester Hills? Not sure. If you live nearby, you need to visit the store at least once.

I like that woman's spirit and smile! I need some of her energy. Speaking of which, I heard a speech by a 12 year old with spirit, quoted last night in a talk by Andy Best, an educator from NSW visiting the US. It'll be my next post.

In my anger, I am not blind, and in my fear, I am not afraid to tell the world how I feel.
