I would like to update the cookbook for the holidays, but I notice there have been very few additions to the Recipes page since May. If you would like to contribute a favorite family holiday recipe, please add it to the Recipes page. Hopefully, I'll get the book updated by the middle of November. Thanks!!!

Sammi has slept most of the day after the vet visit. His eye has ceased to bleed but my getting his drops in the eye went everywhere else but.....The swelling around his head isn't any bigger and he has had a little tuna and milk(laced with a crushed anti inflammatory tablet) so fingers crossed that he is on the mend. Won't be picked up or stroked as yet. Wonder what hit him?

Good afternoon to all! It is rare for a fellow to receive flowers from a woman. Thanks Nal!

I hope Sammi continues to improve, Mo. It is almost impossible for just one person to get meds into a cat. This I know from experience. Eye drops would be mind boggling on your own. Is there a neighbor who could lend a hand? Perhaps if you wrapped him in a towel and someone could hold his head you might have more luck. Poor little guy.

Anu, why did you have to post pictures to remind me of how wet our summer was here?

I know Kathy.
To get him to the vet I wore protective gloves and coat just to get him into the carry basket. He is not a cuddly cat at the best of times. The howls in the car were awful but that is normal for him. Vet says he is probably highly sensitive to the engine sound ....and we have a hybrid!

I have just posted a recipe for cinnamon Christmas ornaments on the recipe pages. It's a very easy project to do with kids. I have made them and tied them on Christmas presents for decoration, several make a nice little gift, and, of course, you can hang them on the tree. Not for eating, though!

Mo, I hope Sammi bounces back quickly. Thankfully it wasn't worse, and hopefully he has learned to avoid whatever it was that occurred to him in the future.

After pulling a farmer over for speeding, a state trooper started to lecture him about his speed, pompously implying that the farmer didn't know any better and trying to make him feel as uncomfortable as possible. He finally started writing out the ticket, but had to keep swatting at some flies More...

Thanks Greg
The vet thought he may have fractured the occipital bone around the eye, hence the head swelling. Nothing to be done except TLC and anti-inflammatory drugs. He advised against xrays as they stress the cat by having to have anesthetics and the treatment would be the same anyway. He More...

That is an exquisite photo nal. There's no need to sign it, your wonderful style is unmistakable.

Ian: I had to enlarge it to be certain, but that wonderful shot says 'nal from miami' in the lower right corner. Or did you mean that even that signature was unneeded?

Ian (Sydney), it is easy to recognize both Nal's and your photos when they are posted. You both have an eye for detail and the unique nature of the subject you shoot.

Ian, yes I meant it that way. There is something about her style that is unmistakable, her photos are always crisp and beautifully composed. If you haven't already done so, have a look at her work on her Flickr pages - I will give you the URL in my next comment.

Ian, of course you're not close to Nal. She is in Miami and you're in Sydney. By the way, every time you post a comment your avatar is taking a picture of something. Will we see those photos in the near future?

Mo -there is nothing worse (or more expensive) than a sick pet . Hope he/she is ok. I know how much I love my old dog.

Ok Mariane!

Shouldn't be here, this is my sneak peek while my youngest gets ready for school. I should be in the car and dropping her off already...but that aint gonna happen!

Greg, perhaps I should rephrase it - I am nowhere near up to nal's standard, her photography is outstanding.
As for my photos, you'd be surprised if you saw the photos I take every time I post - some people don't wear clothes in front of the computer!! Imagine that.

No doubt about it, Ian. I hope that Nal was able to take advantage of the tax benefit that is available to her, since she was able to sell a photograph and demonstrate income. Can't remember when that discussion took place. But I figure, whatever money she saves on taxes, she can use to post more photographs!

Nal, did you do that?

Ian, I know I am not in the same league as nal. There are many fine photographers in our Sudoku group now.

It seems to me that a couple of years ago a small cadre of ex-posters instigated a wonderful weekly celebration called 'naked Friday'. Whatever happened to that?
