Plum - We have been to the Kalamazoo Air Zoo!!!! It was great! We had also been to the Yankee Air Museum several times before it burned down. They were two amazing places and a great place to learn for all of us!

the main area is a huge single room with a breathtaking 32' x 900' wrap-around mural that allows you to walk through the history of flight. There are smaller rooms and the hallway that also have murals. And there's a balcony, and an annex with even more great stuff to look More...

and today there are a couple of biplanes that are going to be flying overhead for the public's pleasure. It costs $60 to go up in one and $200 for a 30 minute "WWII training session."

Debby - I would hear people gush about the Air Zoo, but never understood how neat it is to visit. Free admission runs through the end of September if anyone wants to go. They also give school group discounts.

I would love to see that, Plum!
I have been to the Pima Air and Space Museum in Tucson, Arizona. It's one of the largest in the world. Kennedy's Air Force One is there. I was amazed how small and primitive it seemed compared to today's luxurious accommodations for the President!

Hey, Kathy and Jerry - c'mon out for the Michigan Sudokufest (JaneJam) the 13th and see the Air Zoo. It's just south of the Kalamazoo airport. Tell you what -- if you fly in, I'll pick you up and take you to the Air Zoo and then to the restaurant and back to Kalamazoo. If you come from a long More...

The Black Bra

I had lunch with 2 of my unmarried friends. One is engaged, one is a mistress, and I have been married for 20+ years.

Plum - wish I had enough time to visit the Air Zoo while in Michigan, but - alas - I won't!!! I am so looking forward to our Sunday dinner, however! Sharon (my sister-in-law) and I plan to arrive at Clara's about 4. See you a week from Sunday!

Flight delay - one of Little Plum's homeschool friends can come with us if we go sometime next week instead, so I'm off to the chiropractor instead.

Shiela - Thanks for the heads up on the 4 o'clock arrival at Clara's. If Debby, Angi, Nancy and Shiela are all okay for arriving by 4p I can change the reservations. Let me know, will you Debby? I'm looking forward to meeting all attendees, too!

Okay - the last two puzzles did not get even one attempt to solve them, so here is a really easy one for you to try out. As always, send your solutions to my mail box!

Jerry, no offense, but you should have started your black bra post with "This story has been going around the internet" or some such buffer. The way it reads, starting off with "I had lunch with two of my unmarried friends ..."
Well, the mental picture of you in black ...
I'm sorry, but that would quite take my appetite away. Please, help us out here.

Glenn - I've attempted. Think I have the one about Henry's queens solved. Have to go back through and check. I almost had quite a complicated email composed to you about John and Alice's hotels asking for help on something I was stuck on, and Little Plum knocked the computer "off" switch. She's been clumsy lately, but she's grown like an inch in 2 months!

HOW TO START EACH DAY WITH A POSITIVE OUTLOOK: 1. Open a new/empty file in your computer. 2. Name it 'Barack Obama'. 3. Send it to the Recycle Bin. 4. Empty the Recycle Bin. 5. Your PC will ask you: 'Do you really want to get rid of 'Barack Obama?' 6. Firmly Click 'Yes.' 7. Feel better? GOOD! Tomorrow we'll do Nancy Pelosi.

Washington, DC Metro Station on a cold January morning.

After 3 minutes a middle-aged man noticed there was a More...

My garden retaining wall is completely rebuilt.
It is truly SPECTACULAR - and 16,600 pounds well-spent.
Pity I can't see it from the vantage point of my garden.

Ray, I've been in Metro stations in and around DC many, many times. Morning rush hour is insane. I am not the least surprised that so few people stopped to listen to Joshua Bell. Believe me, had I been there, one person would have stood enthralled for the one hour.
But then, of course, I More...

mymare - that's great! The sooner the better, I'm thinking. Debby's co-coordinating this event (in charge of connecting with the eastern Michigan people and she made the final decision on where we are meeting), so I want to check with her before "officially" messing with the start time.

Wonderful....just imagine your health care managed (and I use the word with some distaste) by some hybrid bastard child of the Post Office and the Registry of Motor Vehicles...I think I'd be better off in the hands of the Teamsters and the Hell's Angels.

Hey all, a quick drive by. Ian, I was just in the Boston area passing through from NY to a wedding on Peak's Island, Maine. Ate my body weight in lobster. Guess who is visiting me as I type this? Ed from Lithia. He's here for the weekend to go to Bumbershoot! Whoo hoo! (google bumbershoot if you don't know what it is)..

I live in Washington, where the Joshua Bell story was recognized as proof of nothing except that people are expected to get to work on time. If they had done the same stunt in the evening rush hour, the results would have been quite different. Anyway, it is quite possible to hear lovely music while walking! One need not stop moving to appreciate it.
