Just call me One-eyed Jacks today. I have an eye patch on my right eye after slightly scratching the cornea. At least the good eye is working well enough to do the puzzles.

Yes Kathy, that one looks fairly easy except for number 9. I'll have to think about this some more as well.

CG the Pirate - Luckily eyes heal quickly, but its no fun. Cat scratched my eye once and by the time I could get to the doctor in the aftenoon he said, "It's healing nicely!"
Watch for infection, CG.

Ouch, Greg! Hope it heals soon. Must be an unlucky time for eyes. I've just developed a "floater" in my right eye, which dances nicely across the computer screen. Annoying as heck.

Thanks for your concern ladies, but it's not a big deal. Doctor says it will be an unpleasant memory by Thursday. Just means I'll be watching the Canada versus United States World Junior hockey game for the gold medal with my EYE agog!

2:27 Maen! Even with a nice sheen on that exoskeleton, it's still not very attractive...

That picture bugged me. Oh well, easy puzzle today.

I want to hear HOW (or WHO) you scratched your eye, Greg! If the real story is not very interesting, just make one up, OK?
06/Jan/10 7:19 AM
 |  |
Kathy, you won't get #9 and #10 without a little Googling ... they're not in common usage ...

gang. It's always nice to come here & be reminded that if I am miserably cold where I am, someone else is miserably hot where they are!!
Greg, I'd like to hear your story, too. We girls always like to know all the gory details!

Unlike Kathy MD's & Fiona's puzzles, mine are for the more simple minded or those who like to get things done fast. (No wisecracks now Judy!)
The answer for the Jan. 5 puzzle was:
resolution

Jan. 6 puzzle:
How many common words of FOUR letters or MORE can you make from the letters in the following word? (you may use each letter only once in each word)
MONKEY

I got seven words, Kathy, but I bet there are some other weird ones that I'd never unscramble! Maybe the Crafty Crossword People will come up with the unusual ones!
06/Jan/10 7:58 AM
 |  |

I got 9 words, if you consider 'ye' and 'yo' words.
06/Jan/10 8:22 AM

Isn't that a millipede?
06/Jan/10 8:22 AM
 |  |
OK, Daplap, let's start again and find out ... one ... two ...
06/Jan/10 8:25 AM

I just KNOW Fiona is going to accuse me of cheating if I Google, but I am anyway.....for curiosity's sake, if nothing else.

Camon, Batwoman ... follow the rules!
06/Jan/10 8:26 AM
 |  |

Fiona, you twit! I have never heard of those words!!! Never, never, never!!! Totally unfair!!
Boooooo!
06/Jan/10 8:29 AM

She's a piece o' work, ain't she, Kathy/MD??
06/Jan/10 8:31 AM
 |  |

Boy, some people are SO competitive, not mentioning any names of course!
All your words must be FOUR letters or more, & according to the answer on my calendar there are only five correct words.
So write your own list (no answers in comments yet please), & I will reveal those five words tomorrow!

Where are the number puzzles..?

And CG, we'd all like to hear the story--make up a good one if it's embarassing..!
Either that or the ladies will start surely some embarassing rumors...

I had already sent Fiona my (incomplete) list, Judy.
I Googled so I can sleep tonight.

Please do not try and tell me that you knew them!

Judy - I counted the feet and divided by 2 per segment)

Dear Daplap, you really need to get a life ...
06/Jan/10 8:57 AM

Okay, it all started last Saturday..... (to be continued in 2011). Damn, I winked with the wrong eye.
06/Jan/10 9:00 AM

Kathy and Judy - it's not because you yanks have chosen to use different words to describe what already had a perfectly good name, that the words don't exist!!!
06/Jan/10 9:01 AM
 |  |

Hey ladies, didn't our Florida Kathy ask for four leeters or more in the words? What's with yeand yo?
06/Jan/10 9:02 AM
 |  |
Kiss my grits, Fiona!
06/Jan/10 9:05 AM
 |  |

leeters = letters and that's ye and yo. I'll claim partial blindnees for those errors.
06/Jan/10 9:06 AM
 |  |

See what I mean, Greg? They can't even read the instructions properly.
06/Jan/10 9:11 AM
 |  |

Morning all - just on my first cuppa (tea), think I have all but no 9 in Fiona's puzzle and that probably needs breakfast and a cup of coffee to work it out!
06/Jan/10 9:24 AM
 |  |

Okay. So far I have come up with four words with FOUR or more leeters. How many do you have, Fiona? What? None? Big surprise.
06/Jan/10 9:27 AM
 |  |

You're right Kathy, I haven't even tried. But Judy says she's got 7 and that's 3 more than you have, and that's a lot to beat!
06/Jan/10 9:46 AM
 |  |

Fiona - I got them all easily but no.9 and because I had to google it, I won't submit them.
I only have 4 of the 5 words for Kathy's puzzle. I do have a possible 5th but have to check
06/Jan/10 9:47 AM
 |  |

Funny how no9 is causing so many probs...obviously the aussies don't use that word either. Just who was on all these boats that left our shores?
06/Jan/10 9:49 AM
 |  |

I can do number 9 but then I am neither an American nor an Australian and I garden. I only crossed the English Channel on a ferry so maybe Fiona it was the long watery voyages left a little water on the brain.

Changed my youTube to a video where not only humans become inebriated but the animals in Africa celebrate once a year, too in the same manner. They gorge themselves on fermenting fruits thus entering into the sad state of unbalanced action and lost dignity.

Back again, breakfast over - and so it should be at almost 1100!
06/Jan/10 10:57 AM

Have also got the oven nearly sparkling clean - a job I detest!
