I, too, had nome - by the same method and for the same reason as Judy! A word I wouldn't have thought about for yonks bar the odd word target!

Ian posted around Christmas that he and Anne would be taking off after Christmas, I believe.

I came up with some words without looking any up and was going to post them with my sad humour in brackets behind - e.g. nome (a headless garden statue), moke (smoke minus an s)....
Now you can see why I didn't post them!

Thank you Amelia and Kate (Ku-ring-gi). I guess I missed Ian's post about his travels. I'm pleased that all is well and that he and Anne are just out gallivanting around.

Well, I got snuckered into taking my niece and nephew! And it had to be in 3d no less. Because of my niece's social schedule we couldn't do the IMax experience which I know her brother will rag her about. I'm taking some cotton so my ears won't be totally assaulted!

See! Kate used 'yonks'!! I am vindicated!
I shall leave you all with my head held high....

I had nome but I thought of Nome, Alaska! It's located on the southwestern tip of Seward Peninsula in Alaska!

I meant the movie Avatar! My niece said it's the one I HAD TO SEE! (Her words and inflection) Said that she would take me just so I would have company and then her brother said that he hoped I wouldn't mind if he invited himself to the date as well. Had to do it today because nephew leaves for Japan tomorrow and niece for Sacramento.

Good morning all.
Kathy - you are only partially vindicated - the word we use in Australia is 'yonks', meaning - a long time - as in 'Haven't seen you in yonks'. So, to be pedantic, there wasn't an 's' in MONKEY so you are reduced to the perhaps vulgar British term. Hehehe!
I had 'keno' as More...

Moke is also the name for a sall vehicle with flimsy roof and side supports, and canvas sides popular in the 70s, and in some beach resorts still.

I worked on Fiona's puzzle for a while. For 4. I got mam ... so that would have been wrong. For 8. I got ballad ... the b and d are mirror images, I figured that was even better. 11. and 12. completely baffled me, so I didn't send anything in.

Debs - you wouldn't believe it. I just submitted some new avatars for approval last night. One is almost the same as yours but is a picture of the sign. I didn't realise you had that one so I won't use mine - I have plenty of others.

CynB..I didn't know you have to submit them for approval. I just found the picture and attached it. We must be on the same wave length in picking avatars.

I fell asleep early yesterday, and slept for 7 hours. Now I'm up and playing with the computer. I'll go back to bed for another nap in a little while, but I had to read the posts first.
