As it is a statement I would need more information to know who they were not listening too and what was the subject of the discussion they were suppose to be listening about.

no not dodging anything - you said it isnt a joke, so you didnt have to post it in the joke section and as a serious statement I need more information before I post a quality reply to you. You see I like to be fully informed before I reply or place comment so that I make sense.

Rose, I may not have been born an aussie, yet I do believe I have a thicker hide also, and so totally agree that laughing at ourselves and enjoying a good joke about anything, is the best medicine.

We had a blast on the weekend, liquor was involved, but was it consumed that made us all laugh so much, that blinded me from tears and make my sides hurt so much I couldn’t breath.

I would only post a joke that I find amusing. So Ian, my question to you is, do you find the joke about battered women humorous.

I am returning to my study of the biography of the composer Schubert for a time. I feel passionately sorry for him. What a terrible life he had. Yet he managed to remain cheerful and wrote the most wonderfully lyrical music - in my opinion (which may not be worth very much it seems), the most tuneful, flowing music ever written. Amazing guy.

was just passing and saw the age old Ian stir up of the site on political correctness of a joke. (been done ad nauseum) As I am one with a warped and varied sense of humour, who has laughed all weekend at smut and innuendo, who thinks laughter is so good for the soul especially More...

I dunno...it seems like everybody is dancing around the real question. What makes an attempt at humor successful to some people and very ugly to others?

Before I went I was trying to figure Jeb's comment. In the first place I don't keep my butter in the fridge - it goes too hard to spread. In the second case I have no car and have no need for car-keys.

Oh, the butter was right where it belonged. The key had fallen behind the container. Why it wound up there is the ageless mystery.

In my opinion, Comedy changes with time and culture, how you are feeling at the time maybe the key to how you perceive that particular joke, is it successful or ugly to YOU today, had YOU heard that joke More...
