Plum, depends on what color of white your white shoes are.

Yup! Gotta happy dance for me?

Jerry has the happy feet.

Have not attempted dancing since a few weeks before Girl 2 showed up. But I bet I could come up with a one liner song.

Go ahead and wear white after Labor Day, Plum ... I dare ya ... but my mother (and many others) will likely return from the grave to chastise you! That hard-and-set rule is totally ignored in Southern California, as we wear white year-round out here!

No Plum, there are too many whites to elaborate on. I do know not to wear those really bright whites. A cream white is acceptable, but daring.

HI all! Tell me more, what is all this about white?? You're not allowed to wear white after Labor Day?
09/Sep/09 12:53 AM

The white rule was banged into me too. My niece, who is 21 had never heard of it. Strange.

to all
Cute ...adorable little child!
Kare...you can try square dancing... you know how to walk = you know how to dance it and who cares about the beat, as long as the music is on.

Hummm. Seems Fiona has never heard of the no white after labor day rule either.

Yesterday's riddle answer was the zoo. Lots of correct answers although some were slower than others...hats off to Plum for coming in first. Here's the answer explained:

'school' of whales
'family' of otters
'band' of gorillas
'litter' of puppies
'sleuth' of bears
'army' More...

So what's the origin of the no white thing? Or do I have to go google it?
09/Sep/09 12:56 AM
 |  |

Hehehe, Danstell, knowing how to walk is debatable.

All baby weight gain was in my feet and they have not been the same since. Just ask the floor that I have met more times than I want count.

I am still wearing my whites and summer colors... summer is finally in here and hot...
No way I can wear heavy warm pants, no matter the color

Here's today's teaser for you - answers to the 'did Karen's hubby finally remember?' inbox!!

Find the synonymous word for each word in the following pair. For each pair, the words you find should rhyme with each other, the first word being an adjective and the second a noun.

Oh Fiona, I have no idea where it orignated from. It was just preached to me from Grandma and my mother all my life.
Being a rebellious sort, I got in trouble a lot way back then.

Not that way back.

I just googled it Karen, and it seems no-one really knows why...but between Labor Day and Easter you're not supposed to wear white shoes. That is so funny.

Someone is up an hour and half early. Must see what is on the little girl's mind. She is so amazing.
To answer your question, Fiona, no he did not remember.

I have an old etiquette book somewhere around here. I will investigate.

Karen, I'd lay the table for dinner tonight with an axe as the centrepiece!

Karen you have ''un argument de poids'' ... word to word translating = your argument weighing more than mine.
09/Sep/09 1:07 AM
 |  |

Karen, absolutely right. Some days I have to leave after a "sir" and don't get back for a few days. I go half nuts checking back...

Well, I will probably wear my white Crocs to dinner on Sunday. And they are WHITE white! Not a wussy offwhite. So there, you fashionistas!!! (Hmmmmmmmmm, I guess it will be too warm to wear socks though).

One of the (few) beautiful things about being old is that you don't give a rip what others think. Cackle, cackle!!!

Jill, The phone line is in. I'm supposed to be hooked up Thursday. Then I still have to move the travel trailer to plug in. Gravel needs to be hauled to prep the site. (the power & phone lines were "plowed in" under the pad site, & I didn't want to lose the rock.

WHEN I AM AN OLD WOMAN I SHALL WEAR PURPLE

With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
And gobble up samples More...

Plum, I used to wear white pants & shoes with a "aloha shirt", year 'round for dress up. (of course I lived in Hawaii at the time)

It was probably the shoe industry that invented the "no white after Labor Day" rule - so that people would run right out and buy new shoes. I am also convinced that the clothing industry came up with the "Easter outfit" concept, whereby everyone was expected to buy a brand-new More...
