Thanks to all who submitted vomit synonyms! Daughter Rebecca scored 100% on her oral presentation – prof. said it was the best presentation of all! Rebecca says big thanks to all, and especially those who suggested ‘chunder’, which is her personal favorite. ☺

Different flower - won't see such things in Ohio.
 |  |
I thought it was a caterpillar! Thank you for showing us this different flower.
 |  |
Pretty flower. You won't see it in Michigan either.

Well Done,Nice Flower

No flower like this in Utah, either. Does it have a strong smell? Is it on a bush?
 |  |
looks like a caterpillar sitting atop its pedal!
 |  |
Also known as bottle bush

Unique flower. I saw a caterpillar, too, at first. And of course, the first three letters of 'caterpillar' are ...

6:25 Is it really a flower? I thought it is some kind of insect....?

My first thought was bottle brush. But no wonder - I do have my eight-month old grandchild visiting for a few days.

Blown away by another fabulous picture of an unusual flower. Thanks to the photographer.

9:58 Well, at least I did it in under 10 minutes! Although my mouse seems to be a little sticky and the computer seems to be responding slower than usual. (That's my excuse... and I'm sticking to it!!!!)

Banksia... I have a necklace, one of my favorites, that is supposedly a cross-section More...

Late tonight. Good easy sudoku puzzle today. Not a brain teaser but not trivial either.

I have seen this flower before. Was it trying to eat Snugglepot or Cuddlepie? I always get them confused.
 |  |
I don't see the cat-erpillar in the picture.

Nice photo - which Banksia? and where?
Looks as though Spring is springing Down Under. The aspen and cottonwoods are golden east of the Sierra.

Neat picture! We have a beautiful red bottle-brush here in the Bay Area. Does anyone know if they're related? Unfortunately I don't know whether they're native; they like the weather here and thrive without care.

we also have red bottle brush here
think they are from similar family
have a great day/night one and all

Hi all, a bottle brush is a very different plant to the banksia! someone will have to submit a lovely red bottle brush to show you all! Also, yes, the Big Bad Banksia Men were always after both Snugglepot & Cuddlepie, even into the depths of the sea!
 |  |
Bottle brushes are usually callistemons and have slightly different flowers. They are often red but I don't think banksias come in red - orange cream and yellow mostly. Both banksias and callistemons are Aussie natives. For those uninitiated in the ways of the nasty banksia men and sweet gumnut More...

A rabaii and a preist walk into a bar. The preist turns to the rabaii and says: 'Hey, did you hear the one about us?'
 |  |
Don't have my card with me!!! Can you?
 |  |
JH (Champaign): I think your necklace is probably made of cross-section 'slices' of the banksia seed-pod. I've seen large ones used that way to make drink coasters too.
 |  |
Well this was a learning experience. I did not know there was a plant called bottle brush. The bottle brush I referred to is just a brush that cleans baby bottles.
 |  |
11:12. I'm with JH -- my mouse is sticking, my computer is slow, and the sun got in my eyes, too.
