Now THAT's some serious wind. Makes our Pacific Coast trees, many facing the same direction and standing atilt, look mundane by comparison.

Whoa! Just checked my calendar (always get the Ansel Adams wall calendar for pix, and nice big squares for jotting app'ts), and 02/08 photo is "Tree, Stump, and Mist, North Cascades National Park, Washington, 1958." I also remember having seen this pic before Kate, but could not remember where, as I do most of the sudoku pics as jigsaws as well. Fairly easy puzzle today.

The roots need to have a firm hold of the soil.
