Never been to Germany. My brother spent several years there in the late 60's. He loved the people, sites, food and the customs. I hope to go some day. 82 and warm today with a bit of rain. I wish we had more trains in the US.

This photo brings back happy memories of the trip we took in September from Amsterdam to Frankfurt. The train reaches speeds of 300 kph with ease. It is a comfortable and exciting ride.

Confused - a German train with an acronym based on English words?

300 kph would be exciting.

<<< Alternate Photo Comment >>>
The German National Hockey League was in financial trouble. More revenue needed to be brought in. The board of directors decided that the easiest way to turn the tide was to double up the utilization of existing capital equipment. Thusly, it was More...

I've no idea what my time was - forgot to set the timer. 300kph is exciting in a train - we went from Paris to Lyon on the TGV earlier this year and were apparently travelling at the same sort of speeds. It certainly makes long trips go very, very quickly!

An ice train is a nice train but you might get an eye strain.

Great picture. Love to have a ride in that train! Jaffy loved your "Alternate Photo Comment" on my picture on PP a few days ago: on the tarmac in Dubbo. The little girl in the red floppy hat is my daughter, the guy in the RAAF uniform holding her is my father. Sadly, I don't think he'll be around in 2026 to greet her on her return!

Suzy, the three words 'Inter' 'City' and 'Express' are all German words as well as English. I believe that German speakers usually use 'stadt' to mean town or city but the word 'city' is still good in both languages.

I waited to see the picture but alas, none appeared. My solution was very different, but I can't find any fault with it. Yet all sudoku puzzles are supposed to be unique. For my solution
top row was 236 578 914
bottom row was 756 429 183.

to liz from US Right away, you have a 6 in column 3 of your top row and a 6 in column 3 of your bottom row. So column 3 has two sixes in it. If you hit the check moves button it likely would have shown you the error of your ways;)

We have ICE trains in Brisbane but they stand for inter city electric. Of course, being QLD trains they are much slower than 300ks per hour.

Moving off the trains but still sticking with public transport, for many years we have a free bus service within the CBD, they are called CATs (Central Area Transit).

I have found out that Fremantle and Rockingham also operate CAT buses but with the public transport industry they refer to them as FATs and RATs.
