This tree looks very old. Do your trees grow fast in Australia? What kind is it?

I can see a face aswell!
Old tree's are so beautiful.

Debby, it depends what conditions they're grown under, like site conditions and maintenance etc.
Also, seasons also assist in the growth of a tree.
It doesn't matter what part of the world they're grown in.

I see a wizard face. Magic Tree? During our construction these past three years we have saved many an old tree. We have one very, very old and over 60 feet tall. One of our business ventures is growing palms, some grow very fast and others very slow.

That's a great photo of an interesting subject Kate. In my younger days I used to take Australia's great eucalypts for granted - until my new English bride said one day "Look at that lovely tree". It was only then that I realised that every gum tree is different. I couldn't see the More...

I meant to add - it's nice to see that Kate appreciates their individuality. Was the photo taken at 'Dundullimal'?

A Spruce tree (possibly the tallest in the world) was felled. Not by lumberjacks, but by winds. They are having 100 mph winds along the Oregon Coast. The tree split about 1/2 way up.

Excellent photo Kate. The "Old Gnarled Kate/Sidney". Think you may need an additional word More...

I love old trees too. Such beautiful, venerable things.
I just got finished the medium puzzle and asked for snow, and now it's started to fall! Gorgeous puffy white flakes--see, wishes do come true! Hope all of yours do as well ...

Cathy from southern Ontario...why would you wish for snow? I only like it at night and weekends when I don't have to drive in it. Otherwise it is pretty.

Debby it's quite an old gum tree growing in the grounds of an old homestead near Dubbo. Ian I thought you'd recognise it! Paige I love its old face! Looks like its had a happy life, although living in Dubbo it would have been very tough growing old weather wise - hot, dry summers, quite cold at More...

Okay, Cathy from Detroit--next time I wish for snow, I'll add the fine print that says it shall only snow in Detroit once you're home, safe and sound. (A tall order, but I can try!)

Eucalypts and snow; now there is a combination. I am glad that we only have the one here. Imported from Australia and I heartily appreciate them.

Merrillskid, there are trees called Snow Gums which are eucalypts and which flourish above the snow line in our alpine country. You can find out more about them in Wikipedia or by Googling 'Snow Gum'.
