A bit slow this morning - 5:55 for what appeared to be a fairly straight-forward puzzle.

That tree has sprouted on the site yet again!

3:07 Maen! Pretty purple... I find myself increasingly distracted when that ad for "Who's Searching For You?" is on the screen... that woman looks like a young Jane Seymour, and that is a very good thing for her, but just KILLS me when I'm trying concentrate on Sudoku! :)

I'm not sure but it looks like a very mature Jacaranda tree

6:32 A jacaranda?

5:14 Doesn't matter to me what kind of tree it is--it's beautiful!

Rayray, I'm sure it is a jacaranda.

After a little Googling, I'm sure you're right, Ian, Jim and Rayray. In parts of Australia it is considered an invasive plant. It seems to "take over" in some areas. It only grows where there is no chance of hard frost.

Reminds me of the Texas Mountain Laurel (often confused with wisteria, which is a vine).

4.05 the jacaranda

You can have our jacaranda. Someone planted it in the wrong place.

Jacaranda - very slippery when the flowers fall on the path.

Kate, I believe DanM was sharing, not complaining. By contrast, I am more than weary of seeing the 20-y-o ass in the air. Not morally offended, mind you, just wistful.

gorgeous jacaranda. great lining the streets but keep them out of bushland.

To those whom I may have offended, I'm sorry. I should have said "derriere." Or "bottom." Or some euphemism. I apologize.

Way off subject, but... Terry's last comment reminded me of our trip to the UK a couple of years ago. I was really impressed by both the Londonderry air and the London derriere.

That is the first time I have heard about Jacarandas invading the bush, I have three of them on my property up north with bushland behind us and when I've walked out there I haven't seen any growing in the bush.

Searched on Wikipedia and learned your tree is from the same species as the beloved magnolias of the southern u.s. Yours is native to far more exotic climes, and I can understand that w/o natural controls, it could proliferate enough to become a nuisance. I am reminded of eucalypsus trees on the More...

I also didn't know about Jacarandas invading the bush, but I guess any introduced species can be a problem. There are some sort of white lilies all through the National Park at the moment, which you can only notice as they are in flower.
