Hello all!! I have decided to blog today's tough puzzle. The link to the page can be found in the far right column, at the top, under "Check out the Sudoku Blog".

Today's puzzle can undoubtedly be solved without using as many steps as I illustrate. However, there are a few possibly useful steps and techniques that I illustrate today.

Thanks for sharing the picture. I have never seen a purple cactus. I like cactus. It is hard to kill them when you forget to water them.

I've never seen a purple cactus either. Beautiful! The fence is probably to discourage theft.

I used to grow cactus until my small (at the time) grandson tried "petting" a grandfather cactus because it looked soft. It wasn't..... Lots of tweezer time that day!

I believe it's a Santa Rita prickly pear cactus. See: http://www.desert-tropicals.com/Plants/Cactaceae/Opuntia_santa-rita.html

Nice factoid Heidi. I know other Cacti grow very slowly, the saguaro cacti (the classic tall stick figure w/arm like limbs) takes 70 years before a stub of a limb is present. I bet that purple cacti is 150 yrs old (just a swag). Pretty ol' thang (now I'm talkin like a cowboy... daggumit!).
