Sorry for previous - cat jumped on keyboard, apparently on 'enter' key. Anyway, GrannieSyl from UK - I'm an Aussie living in NZ and I've seen the ad. Am in two minds about it - I certainly don't find it offensive, but I do get tired of the 'ocker' image of Australia being promoted O/S. The Crocodile Hunter/Crocodile Dundee 'how ya goin' image is pretty cringeworthy to most of us, I think.

I'm with you. I am tired of the use of bikini clad women to sell this country, the use of 'Aussie' slang to sell it, and the proliferation of ads in Australia at present that push the boundaries of acceptable language (there's a car ad/or is it a chicken ad? that I don't understand that uses the same language). What double standards we have!

Hi Tammy - you'd think that we could find more creative ways to advertise, wouldn't you? Far be it from me to laud the Kiwis over my home country, but Tourism NZ's '100% Pure NZ' ads were fantastic. See what you mean about the colour of the flamingo. Would rather eat that colour in the form of salmon or the original shrimp. All the running those things do would make them tough I think.

We are a relatively 'carefree' nation but I also get sick of aussies being represented by a yobbo image. It makes a statement but perhaps not an entirely accurate one.
