Been to Longwood many times, but never saw the fountains and light show. Beautiful. The gardens are spectacular. When I first started going there there was no entrance fee. It is still worth the money to see. The conservatory changes with the season. Winter is fabulous! They also have concerts.

I've been to Longwood Gardens. We went in July - I think it was 92 degrees that day. Soooo hot! But even so, the gardens were beautiful. We took tons of pictures, though the one today is not mine.

Longwood is well worth a special trip. While you are at it see a lot of wonderful things in nearby Delaware--Winterthur, Delaware Art Museum, Hagley, Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts, old New Castle and many others.

You know, I've lived in PA for a dozen years, and until recently one of my best friends lived three miles from Longwood gardens, but I've never gone.

Done.

When my grandmother died at 103 years I lived in Lancaster PA... and most of them with her hands in the soil convincing small plants to bloom beauty... I took the day off and walked the paths of Longwood garden. The formal gardens are lovely and it was the perfect thing to honor my gransmother's life that day... but the thing I found particularly astonishing were some ancient trees.
