Why there are no one in this beautiful garden to give us the feeling that somebody enjoying such wonderful place or palace.

Why do people feel the need to throw coins into a water fountain?
 |  |
GrannieMo - coins dating from the 1st to 5th centuries have been found in excavated fountains of the Roman Empire. For whatever reason, folks for a long time have felt the desire to throw coins into a water fountain! Personally I threw coins into the Trevi fountain 40 or so yeas ago which is More...

versailles ? no, i don't think so
i think it may be st. petersburg like vera said, those golden statues are most likely russian, but not french
plus those potteries are for sure east european, if not russian may be hungarian, polish, ukranian, romainan, but not french

Nancy, i would More...

I see that folks are suggesting 'Versailles' and 'St. Petersburg' and recall what happened to the owners of those 'beautiful palaces.' Versailles has no restrooms at all, the 'royals' went wherever they chose and expected the 'help' to clean it up. 'Sic semper tyranus!'
 |  |
Barbara, you don't need to throw anything here to return to Egypt
we have a proverb that say that who drink from the nile should return to it ...... of course for the treatment :)
 |  |
Jim, but versailles had a restroom, le petit trianon
do you mean the french revolution and louis 14 by 'recall what happened to the owners of those 'beautiful palaces.''
i am not sure what did you meant, but i think the shot isn't from versailles nor st. petersburg, it is from earth, do you think it is from jupiter ? :)

Looks like the swimming pool at our trailer park.
 |  |

Good Maen everyone. Vera got it first, it is part of the Cascade fountain at Peterhof, just outside St Petersburg. It has the most spectacular collection of golden statues I have ever seen. This photo is only part of the display.

West (By God) Virginia! dang it.
 |  |

Khaled, I have drunk from the waters of Nile - not only did I not return, neither did my dinner.

Looks like a nice warm summer day!

Lovely photo Ian but why torture us with the lack of caption? To further test our powers of deduction, logic, reasoning and geography?!

Katwe, no torture, I just screwed up.

Rosemary, I was fulfilling a very old ambition to see the Hermitage Museum. The opportunity to visit St Petersburg presented itself and we took it.
 |  |

Had I been on earlier, I would have said definitely not Versaille; I was there a year or so ago and did not see this fountain there.

Good joke BobbyJim!
 |  |
Yes, Khaled, I was referring to the French Revolution, and also the Russian Revolution, and the end of royalty in those countries. I am on record as being for democracy and anti-royals! I should have been less subtle. I am afraid I included a 'fact' that was not true about Versailles restrooms, sorry. And I AM in Jupiter; Jupiter is a town in Florida USA
 |  |
jim, i am so sorry, i didn't meant to mock of your town, i just thought you are joking, i thought you meant the planet jupiter
i am also anti-royals (and anti semiroyals like in some 3rd world coutries which start with Eg)
but i think those two revolutions (french(1789–1799) and More...

5:09. Lovely shot of a lovely spot Ian.
 |  |
Ian - we also fulfilled our ambition to see the Hermitage 2 years ago. Loved St Petersburg despite being attacked by a gang of pickpockets in the subway. Lost nothing and my husband brought one of them to the floor and another to his knees. Moral of the story is: just because an old guy has white hair does not mean he has forgotten the wrestling moves he learned on his college team.
 |  |
Khaled - I have always longed to see Egypt! When I do I will be sure to drink from the Nile because I know I will want to return. But perhaps I will add a water purification pill before I drink?
 |  |

Wagdy, in the upper right part of the picture, I think I see a group of people admiring the fountain, Certainly Ian spotted the beauty in it. :-)
