Now that's a picture worth waiting for. Green darner dragonfly? I remember being terrified of dragonflies as a kid -- the rumor was that they stung with those 'needles'. I guess with the internet today's kids know better. Great for keeping down the mosquito population.

As kids, we used to watch the bright blue dragonflies connect and transfer color from one to the other. Not stingers, but probably ... you know ...

13:41 - no where near great time some of y'all have. picture reminds me of a time when went fishing with hubby and green & blue dragonflies kept landing on my hands. Never have figured out what I had on me that they liked so much that day. Anyone have any ideas as to what attracts dragonflies?

Dragonflies are beautiful creatures, especially knowing they are harmless! My daughter loves catching them to put in her bug box.

GANNIEMO - I think your French word sounds much nicer than 'dragonfly' for this beautiful delicate creature. Actually, I'm only guessing at how it sounds since I can't speak French! Wish I could hear one of our French ladies pronounce it. Everything in French sounds pretty to me.

In Florida, we have an insect called the 'love bug'. It does not resist being flicked or squished and walks around in a perpetual state of copulation. Dragonflies love them. We welcome the dragonflies before our automobiles become coated with the carcasses of dead love bugs, as is my husband's car.

Love those dragonflies! One of the good insects. Don't hear any complaints about cats and dogs now. 6:24 PM Oct 4
