Jana, Gum nuts are the 'fruit' or seed pod of the eucalyptus tree, which is commonly known as the Gum tree. They vary in size depending on the species, those pictured are moderately large, roughly 3 cm (about one inch) in length. Many of them require fire to open them and release the seeds. More...

deltz, I simply cannot imagine anyone wanting to eat the things, they are rock hard. Perhaps I might have misled you with the use of the word 'fruit' - they are somply seed pods.
