4.34 It looks as though it could be from the Coriolus Versicolor family, although it is a little wide. Has anyone ever seen the green wood cup, now that is a vivid colour indeed.

My hubby is a fun-guy! (There's something a little unsettling about Judy and anything to do with rabbits and the verbs associated with such ... Kathy, why'd you start it?)

On a more intellectual note...ahem.
Genevieve, I have seen that fungus at a botanical garden. It was a bright blue green, almost turquoise. We were told that Italian artists (14th-15th century, I think?)used the wood stained from the fungus for inlaid wood art.

Kathy, you are right. It was commonly known as green oak. It was used in the 15th Century to decorate panels of wood. It is said that you can eat it but I don't think it would be an enjoyable experience. You can also use it to paint with, if used with caution.
