Well, the elephant seems happy to finally be seen.

I hope it is better off than the one in the zoo in Bangkok, which was chained by a leg on a 10'x10' concrete platform all day. Strange to see in a country that generally reveres elephants, and treats them well, even the working ones. Maybe especially the working ones.

2. Note pair 12 at f68.If f6=1,d4=2,a4=9,a1=8=e6; row 3 is devoid of 8.So f6=2.UPs to 49.
3. If a1=8,d1=6.Also,a1=9,a7=6,e7=4,h7=3=i4,i3=6 makes d1=6.UP52.
4. If b1=5,g1=1,b6=7,a6=6=g4,a7=9,g7=5,i4=3=h7;i7 has no candidate.So b1=1.UPs to 81.

My pennyworth today. I could not work out how to do my step 2 in Eureka! notaion, so it's in English instead.

1)start at 22, basic techniques to UP=31
2)if d7=6, d5=8 and g5=7. If d7=7, d2=1, d8=2, f8=1, f6=2,d4=9, def5=nt468 so g5=7, UP=49
3)(6)d1=g1-(6=5)i3-(5=3(i7)-(3=4)h7-(4=6)e7-(6=8)e3=>d1<>8, UP81

I reset the possibilities a few times - just to clear the board... but the puzzle kept disolving with uniques, triples and pairs til finally a short chain proved that c1 didn't = 9 and then it collapsed.

IMO after step 3,=>d1=6,d5e3=8.UP=52,so need another step,for example:
4)(5)g1=b1-c3=(5-6)c6=c9-(6=4)f9-(4=2)h9-(2=1)h3,=>g1<>1.UP=81

Thanks again. When I was transcribing my notes into comments on this page, I 'cleverly' put the end of my step 4 at the end of step 3 - so I thought I had finished. My step 4 was an XY-Wing: (6=1)g4-(1=5)g1-(5=6)i3=> i4<>6, UP=81. Best regards, Neil
