Maen!
The Sudoku blog that Gath has generously allowed me to author on this site has a new page, Forbidding Chains 101 The Theory.
You can access this page through the link in the upper right column of this page.
Please feel free to visit, or even comment.

Thanks Steve, but I can't find the link to that blog. Under 'Sudoku solving techniques' or one of the categories, such as 'Guestbook'? Am keen to see the forbidding chains info.

Hey CS, from CT -- do you mind sharing where in CT? You seem to have a handle on these tough ones, I do alright, but I really don't understand the lingo for the proofs.

Have a great day/night, everyone!

If you are having trouble finding the link, look:

In the right column, immediately above where it says: Easy, Medium, Hard, Tough

It should say (every day) Check out the Sudoku blog. Under that there should be a link to the most recent page.

If you have not visited the blog More...

Kathy, hope you don't mind me jumping in here, but we sent 3 yrs in Windsor Locks (after a couple of months in Farmington). Are you there permanently? I liked New England, but couldn't take the snow/ice/sleet.

That's an, um, interesting barn?

I understand the terms with the proofs, it's the cell references I don't get. Unique possibilities to 27 filled. Unique possibilities obvious ... 27? Locked 7s at i56 - locked 7s obvious, i56?!

Hi Kate!
The opening page of my blog describes the cell references:
bottom left corner is a1, top right corner is i9,
rows are 1 thru 9, bottom to top. Columns are a thru i, left to right. Like a chess board.

Today's puzzle starts with 23 cells filled in as a given. Using the More...

Hi Steve

Found the blog and it looks great. I'll have a closer look with tomorrow's puzzle. Now, what does 'maen' mean?
