I see some good times posted but that was just a monster puzzle to me...first time I just outright guessed at 2 (and guessed wrong!)Took over 30 minutes after set up! Blaming on smaller screen at home computer vs. work! Anyone else struggle more than usual on this one?

Impossible puzzle today!!! Did any of the guru's manage it?

Struggled a lot today(maybe due to late night). Had a lot in the wrong place I discovered towards the end. Not usually that bad.

Forgot to set timer; just as well - had to guess more than I's like to admit.

Strange - I found this puzzle easier and faster than many. I must have seen just the right pairs right away. Eliminating those pairs from their cells, rows, and columns resulted an unending series of single numbers until the puzzle was solved. I look forward to the gurus' solutions to see if they report the same thing.

Like Sarah, I found it strange to find a solution faster than usual. But I set out to explore chains in my crude way by turning on 'Allow Wrong Moves' and working to hit an incongruity starting with the e6 57 options and ... Well, it finished.

I'll ditto Sarah and Thad - This solution was fairly easy to find. And I'm a beginner. For 'Tough,' I kind of expected more.

1) Start at 23 filled - the given puzzle. Unique Possibilities to 28 filled. (UP 28).
2a) Locked 1's at gh2 forbids df2=1.
2b) Locked 2's at df2 forbids abc2=2.

I came up with the following proof for this:

1) Start 23, Unique Possibilities to (UP) 28.
2) Hidden pair 24 at h78 forbid h7=1567, h8=567. UP 29.
3) Naked triplet a7=247, b7=27, h7=24 forbids d7=247, e7=27, i7=7.
4) d6=4 == c6=4 -- a5=4 == a7=4 -- h7=4 == h8=4 forbids d8=4.

This Sudoku is very clumsy to play or the way to play is very much not clear
