Hi all.
I reached 32, and managed to eliminate a couple of candidates by fc. But what is the next move? I cannot find an fc that helps.

A legitimate tough one today:

1) Start 22, Unique Possibilities to (UP) 27.
2) Hidden pair 36 at be4 forbids b4=479, e4=1479. UP 32.
3) Locked 8s at ef9 forbid hi9=8.
4) b4=6 == e4=6 -- e7=6 == a7=6 forbids a6=6, b8=6.
5) i3=1 -- i3=8 == i8=8 -- i8=5 and i3=1 -- g1=1 == g1=5 -- More...

Sweet dreams, Tori.

Hi Clark.I'm not too sure about your #8 as I still have c2=6? Have I missed something somewhere?
 |  |
Disregard this. It's just a test.
 |  |
You didn't miss anything, I did. Here is an updated proof:

1) Start 22, Unique Possibilities to (UP) 27.
2) Hidden pair 36 at be4 forbids b4=479, e4=1479. UP 32.
3) Locked 8s at ef9 forbid hi9=8.
4) b4=6 == e4=6 -- e7=6 == a7=6 forbids a6=6, b8=6.
5) i3=1 -- i3=8 == i8=8 -- More...

another possible proof (without angle brackets!)

1) Start with 22
2) UP 27
3) NakedTriple: ghi4=179 => ~bef4=79
4) UP 32
5) Locked: def9=8 => ~hi9=8
6) Locked: abc2=9 => ~f2=9
7) Simple Coloring on 6: => ~b8=6
or (d8=6 == e7=6 -- e4=6 == b4=6)
8) d8=6 More...

I had to use a guess to get it, then it all fell into place easily. For those of you who seem to have no trouble in solving these tough puzzles, do you always know that the number you are putting in is absolutely correct? When I do them on paper, I have a system that tries out numbers (if this is More...

belay that last transmission, got garbled
(i was trying to use angle brackets and forgot that
xml takes a proprietary view of them).

here then is a proof (depth 5 or more - sigh)

1) Start with 22, UP 27
2) Naked Triple: ghi4=179 => ~bef4=79, UP 32
3) Locked: def9=8 More...

Possible proof of tough sudoku of 09 16 06:

1) Start at 22 filled - the given puzzle. Unique Possibilities to 27 filled. (UP 27).
