Wow, the first time I've had a photo on tough. This was taken last February when I toured N.Z. Wellington wasn't my favourite place but it looks lovely from this view.

It does look very pretty. Is this Australia? I love the palm trees.
 |  |
Nice shot of the cricket ground, darn shame about that cable car getting in the way tough!
 |  |
pretty picture-nice to see one from NZ
 |  |
Sorry about that Dave, I did ask them to move the cable car over a bit but there was a bit of a problem with the rails. They just wouldn't budge.
 |  |
Anne, what didn't you like about Wellington? (Just curious, because New Zealand is on our list of places to visit in the next five years ...)
Snow tires are now on the car--bring on the white stuff! (Enough rain already).
 |  |
nice to see the cable car is still there.I used to take so often when i lived there 20 years ago. Thanks Anne !

Possible proof of tough sudoku of 11 17 06:
1) Start at 23 filled - the given puzzle. Unique Possibilities to 27 filled. (UP 27).
2) Hidden triple 689 at b134 forbids b14=23,b3=2345 UP 33
3a) Locked 1's at ac7 forbids ei7=1
3b) Hidden pair 15 at i89 forbids i9=279,i8=26

Coordinate system used:
Columns are letters, rows are numbers, bottom left is a1, top right is i9.
Chaining: see proofs, forbidding chains - through link at bottom of page.
The only truly interesting step in my proof really is the multi-coloring or conditional x wing or finned swordfish step 7a.

ah!tough..finishedin 25 minutes to see Anne's cable car.. er ,i dont see any cable overhead!but still its cable car??
 |  |
47:28 Straightforward but I couldn't seem to find the key chain (keychain?)
 |  |
It's not a cable car - its a rack railway
 |  |
Nice picture Anne. Not at all what I imagined NZ to be like.
 |  |
Good afternoon to all! No cable? A wreck (oops rack) railway? It must be a runaway. Watch out below!!

Nice picture Anne!
 |  |
Fairly simple!

To Steve from Ohio
Which link are you referring to at the bottom of the page? I was looking through the proofs and could find nothing about the chains. Am I simply blind?

Thanks heaps for providing these solutions each day - it helps me work out whether I have enough time to do them before work!

I've been on here since 6am & it's now 8am & I haven't even had breakfast yet got to go my tummy rumbling. Have a good day everyone.

Hi Iain!
Try 'proofs', then 'Bruno's Sudoku Proofs', then 'Forbidding Chains for absolute beginners'.

Cathy from Southern Ontario - I just didn't really like the layout of the city. It was just too many buildings jammed into such a small space. I'm probably just used to wide open spaces and this didn't look like a very well set out city. Some parts of it were lovely, though. I was there for such a More...

Anne, what a great picture. If you haven't offered it to Wellington to use on a tourist brochure, you should. It's top notch.
 |  |
Anne, your picture made a great jigsaw!
 |  |
yay i got another tough.I'm learning.
 |  |
Where's wellington ?
 |  |
phoa from VietNam
Wellington is the capital of New Zealand and is situated in the north island.

Thanks Anne

Hi STEVE from Ohio,

How about puzzle on 11 10 06? i can't stop to think about that, i try but can't solve it by real logic [use IF .... (a lot step) THEN ... false or true... i think this way is not real logic for that puzzle]. That puzzle is only solved by Trial & Error - or somethings like that?
 |  |
Great photo Anne! It really shows up the terrain surrounding Wellington.- Mountains and sea with a city squeezed in between. Isn't there some difficulty for planes landing there?- Perhaps they should use the cricket pitch? Duck everyone!
 |  |
Hi ttt!
In my opinion, the quickest way to solve a puzzle such as the one from 11/10/06 is by trial and error. When I have the time, I will post a logical proof for that puzzle.
 |  |
Thanks Steve, I'll spend some time doing some study tonight!
 |  |
mAen! 19:40. Possibly my best time on a tough level.
May be this was the easiest tough I've seen? May be
it just fitted my techniques well? After spotting the group in b134 everything fell into their places
one bit at a time.
