Have I made it First?

Yeeeeeeees. So lets do the puzzle.
 |  |
very easy for a 'toughie' today; under 15 mins. The only hint I'll give: f5!!
 |  |
Stayed up much too late for this one, so slow time (19:12) on an easy puzzle because of too many careless mistakes putting in the possibilities. Nice aerial display - is it from Oz (red, white and blue) or France (blue, white and red)?
 |  |
Doh! forgot to set the timer :-/ Had fun though :-)
 |  |
Unless I did something drastically wrong that I didn't see and that worked out by luck, this turned out very fast and easy - 9.25, by miles the fastest I've ever done a tough
 |  |
This was easy for a tough. Have a good they to all.
 |  |
This is just a 'hard' one...agreed...alas.
No puzzling required; straight filling empty spaces till the end...
 |  |
10:39 I am happy with that, have a good day everyone :D

HH, Sweetie,
I needed a short fc at 53 filled. You may have found something more straight. I'd like to know what was your solution.
 |  |
Yes, I started this before you posted, and was going to post the same thing: I needed an fc or 'guess' after 53 filled.
 |  |
Thanks for providing these puzzles and the intersting picture rewards. Red, white and blue.

21:26 Was doing extremely well but forgot to put 9's as possibilities in 2 of the 9x9 squares so messed up for a while, which pulled me back about to my regular time. Oh well.

One of the tough ones that was relatively easy for me. Didn't bother timing..> 40
 |  |
Nice one :)
 |  |
What I can't figure out is how all of you have time to do this.....I am spending 24/24 baking, decorating, wrapping, entertaining etc for Christmas.
 |  |
Salut, gb! Glad you're back :) Yes, I needed an FC at 53 filled also; I started with 'If f5=4, then f9=3,a9=4,a4=7; but if f5=4, then b5=6, a6=7 and a4=4. That cannot be. Therefore f5=1'. Your chain was probably shorter!
 |  |
5:40 I thought was good for a tough one!
 |  |
gb, I also got to 53 filled, then found F7 could not equal 1, as it caused both b8 & f5 to be 4. I have been quietly working these puzzles for several weeks. I'm never fast, for example this required 28 min and most toughs take me longer. Although I think I understand your FC from sandbox reviews, I just don't see how others find the FCs so fast... I must be missing something...
 |  |
Hi All,
First time on this week... Glad to see everyone here! From 53 filled, I used 'If a9=3 or 4, f5=1.' Easy proof, hopefully no typos. If a9=3 then f9=4, f5=1. If a9=4, b5=4 (only one if Bb5), f5=1.
For my FC tries, I'm now looking for a pattern like the above where you have almost a square with the same number, but one is off by one row or column.
 |  |
So what I mean is that you have three corners of a square with 4's in a9, f9, and f5, then the fourth corner would be of course a5. No 4 in a5, however there is one in B5... so 'almost a square'. The idea is that they have to interact with each other, so that is a good place to prove one number out.
Hopefully this is not too confusing of an explanation?

YYYAAAYYYY 4:36
 |  |
Thanks Mike. I follow your explanation. I'll have to try it out. To some degree, I think I'm just slower than you guys in general. I did all puzzles to day to get a feel for relative times:
5:52 Easy 43 blanks; about 7 blanks/min
9:44 Med 53 blanks; about 5 blanks/min
16:43 Hard 57 More...
