1. Unique possibilities to 54.
2. If h1=9,pair 68 at gi3,b5=8=h8,i8=3.Likewise,h1=8,g3=6,g9=2,g6=3 makes i8=3.UPs to 62.
3. When g4=1,e4=7,a4=9,a1=3.Likewise,g4=8,i8=8,i1=9 makes a1=3.UPs to 81.

Alfred..Does the following constitute a Unique Rectangle?
cd2=17, c9=179, c2=17
I thought the puzzle was going well but got it wrong when I penciled in 9 for c9. Please explain why c9=1. Thanks!

Hi Joanne.A unique rectangle can only involve 2 boxes,not 4,as in this puzzle.(more details on your comments page).
c9 becomes 1 after a7=6,b9=9,d9=7 etc.(in the process of reaching UP 54).Regards, Alfred.

Here's my pennyworth for today (I hope it's correct):
1) Basic techniques to UP=54
2) (8)b5=b3-c1=h1=>h5<>8
3) XY-Wing: (8=9)h1-(9=1)h5-(1=8)g4, =>g3<>8, UP=62
4) XY-Wing: (9=8)i3-(8=3)b3-(3=9)a1, =>h1<>9, UP=81
