Hey all of you proof masters:
What does e7=5 and c8=3 forbids d4=3 mean?

I have seen that! The carvings and statues over the Seine are incredible.

This was too easy for a tough puzzle.

to Angie:
not much, per se - unless e7=5, c8=3 are armed and dangerous.

That's one I took on the same Seine bateau mouche ride...forgot to sign it.

An easier tough than usual? Only one guess and it all came together.

Seems like it is hardly worth my time to look at this one today..... SS solvable sudoku's do not belong in the 'tough' section, albeit such a sudoku in 'hard' may be just fine - in my opinion, anyway.

To Steve and the other FC gurus,
I solved todays puzzle using standard techniques to this point:

I tried to apply the following chain, which looks valid, but it fails.
c8=7==h8=7--h6=7==g6--g9=7==g9=39--h9=39==h9=7 should forbid c9=7, but it does not?!? c9 is 7 in the solution. What did I miss?

Was able to complete this one and yesterdays.. what's happening?:) I am usually only able to plug in a couple numbers and I refuse to cheat, I am finding ways to outsmart the puzzle, don't have the intuition of the logic yet...

Agree Keyan! Powered through then a block, guessed one of the locked pairs (I chose 7) then all downhill from there! Great pic!

I was unable to get to the page. Just reading your fc and not applying it to any puzzle, I have the following conjecture: g9=39--h9=39 perhaps is not valid.

Hi Jeff - I found your next comment and got to the page. Indeed, the link h9=39 -- g9=39 does not work. 39 in one cell only forbids 3 or 9 in the other cell, but not both (without any other considerations). Hopefully this helps.
