Hi Everyone,

You can now right click to place possibilies in the puzzle. Hopefully, this will make playing the puzzle a little more enjoyable.

I can't see any elephants, they must be hiding among the tree trunks.
 |  |

mAen! 30:21 - an ok time for me :)

Did you spot the old tire hanging from the tree!
So this is where the local kids come to swing (and jump into the pond on the upswing)?
 |  |
Good Maen all! 16:32 I see the fence and the feeder...is this at a preserve? Great photo
 |  |
Wow, picture makes me want to wish that I was holding the camera
 |  |

Is that a new enclosure I see? I'm sure it didn't look that nice last time I was there - though that was in June '04. They look happy.
 |  |
I just cannot seem to make the leap to complete the tough puzzles. I try every day, but am only occasionally successful.
So, no elephants for me! :(
 |  |

Mary - keep at it. There are many of us who struggle with these. I frequently have to resort to a guess - though I try to make these based on possible outcomes, and they're still often wrong...either way, they will usually open up a path to follow.
 |  |
Keep trying, Mary. Use possibilities - I find it easier for me to choose the right number if the possibilities are listed there. My husband would rather just keep staring at the puzzle with empty suares!
 |  |
Wonder who scrubs the elephant's back? Have a great day/night, everyone.
 |  |
Thanks for the encouragement, PJ and Karen. I will keep working at them. There just seems to be a monumental increase in difficulty as you progress from Hard to Tough.

'Thanks for giving me a shower good friend'

Good maEn to all.
 |  |
25:10; Mary, I had a strong urge to give up after about 15 minutes, but after resorting to a couple of guesses, mustered my way through. Be patient.

Just had a visit to Thailand and went for an elephant ride. When I lived in Melbourne we used to ride the elephants at the zoo

four got their swim trunks?
 |  |
Mary,

When I first started on the Toughs I almost never got them (and I still take a lot longer than the folks brave enough to post their times!). One thing that helped was going to some of Steve's blog pages and working old puzzles. For example, the y-wing page has a list of links to More...
 |  |
Thanks Meredith. I will check out Steve's older blog pages. I have found his newer ones (written in English!) more understandable, but I have trouble using the techniques on my own.
 |  |
Gath, thanks for the right click - a great and useful feature. Could you add a feature where you cannot enter a possibility into a square where you have already found the number - I do this frequently - mark it down to poor eyesight and sloppy mouse work. Thanks again.

Interesting photo. Was this taken at a zoo? There appears to be some sort of fence in the background on the left.
 |  |
It sounds as if we all employ different strategies in solving the toughs. I solve, or at least reduce, every time I fill in a row, column, or box with possibilities. If I had to look at the entire puzzle with all of the possibilities placed, I would freak! Just do whatever works for you, eh? And good luck!

Taronga Zoo is Sydney's main zoo. It's a new enclosure for the elephants. The pool goes right around the outside and is deep enough for them to fully submerge. When I arrived I could see three trunk snorkels and nothing else. A moment after this photo was taken, the elephant approaching the pool was in the water and the two were playing - I've sent in that picture too.

Good afternoon to all! Goodness gracious, there's an elephant in my bathtub!
 |  |
An elephant sized bathtub is needed here!
 |  |
Mary, Play the pic as a jigsaw and you can see the pic even if you don't solve the puzzle.
 |  |
1) Start at 22 filled. Unique Possibilities (UP) to 25
2) pair 24 at ac9, forbids b8=24, c7=24, di9=24, eh9=2. UP 28.
3) triple 135 at ghi1, forbids bef=135, g3b2=135. UP 29.
4a) fc on 8's: b1 == b8 -- d8 == d3, forbids c3=8.
4b) hidden pair 13 at b23, forbids b2=45, b3=258.
4c) More...

25:00 started to give up, but just made a couple of educated guesses and it all opened up..so glad I did! I love elephants! I collect them. (Well, figurines, stuffed dolls, etc. Not real ones)
Now I think I'll do this one as a puzzle, just so I can see it again! :)
 |  |
I really like that they get me thinking, But I certainly wouldn't post my time,
 |  |
The right click is great, and I think will shorten my time, with less fiddling around.
 |  |

 |  |
